But! While we were seated on the grass/blankets, this one guy standing 10ft ahead of us turned and stared at me and winked like 5 times. So when the bands changed and it was easier to talk, I went over and said “hi, happy Pittonkatonk, were you trying to get my attention?” and then he stares at me and says “no?” Lolololol what was that about! Might’ve been zoning out or drugs 🤷♂️

@Amoshias@esq.social hm? The time bomb aspect is that the tax bill was passed in 2017 to take effect in 2023. Which lines up with the https://layoffs.fyi/ graph: rare layoffs from 2020-2022, then some layoffs from Q2-2022, building up to a spike in Q1-2023, followed by continuous quarterly layoffs affecting huge numbers of workers.

@andrew@esq.social @atpfm@mastodon.social @siracusa@mastodon.social just started listening to episode #691, regarding this tax change Quartz cites Trump tax cuts from 2017 as the instigator of this change and resultant job losses
https://qz.com/tech-layoffs-tax-code-trump-section-174-microsoft-meta-1851783502
“One such provision was the delayed change to Section 174, which transitioned from immediate expensing of R&D to mandatory amortization over five or even 15 years. This change, which took effect in 2022, was designed to make the TCJA appear "deficit neutral" over a 10-year period.”
