hi yall! there was a small mishap during some maintenance today that wiped caches of various ID numbers, causing mastodon to think it's either done things already or hasn't done something yet.
this should be fixed now, sorry for the inconvenience!

@snowyfox@deadinsi.de the caches in question are actually a feature of postgresql (sequences), and are used as primary key constraints! :floofPeek: it certainly is nice that it forces it to not overwrite data that already exists :floofNom:
though they're treated *really* weirdly for something that's kept in postgres, in fact, postgres's inbuilt logical replication cant even sync them. pglogical (what i use for replicas) doesn't add them to replication sets unless you specifically ask for it, and even then wont sync them until the increment 1000 times (or, again, unless you specifically tell it to). which is how it got lost, actually; i neglected to manually sync them :floofNervous: (in my defense: it was my forth database i had moved today (and i was eating spaghetti :floofDrool:))
but that weirdness about them is why i worded that the way i did: despite something being missing from the database, no data was lost.

@delve@deadinsi.de the ui should be closer to how it was beforehand now! the changes are pretty much limited to just column and wiglet colors, but it was what bothered me most :floofLurk:

@delve@deadinsi.de yeah, that's a change introduced by mastodon v4.3, i have reverted (overrided) that in the themes i personally wrote and in the radtown themes (so they'd function properly), but i had kept the default theme to more or less it's defaults (i have an anti-recency bias and try not to let it get in the way of the things i do). but seeing others here disliking the change ill pull in the changes i did to the other themes, since its mostly work that's already done it shouldn't be hard to change back ! :floofNom:

@delve@deadinsi.de not that feature, that is nice i agree. it's the second to bottom bulletpoint on that list in the article, specifically it's this https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/25577 which makes the ui follow a more "flat" design principle
