@ryanc@infosec.exchange At least it wasn’t “12V on a board that expected 5V”, which I accidentally did a long time ago by hooking to the wrong pin on a power supply. Hot electronics smell and a small amount of magic smoke later, and it didn’t work quite right anymore.

@foone@digipres.club Am I counting 3 passes per line? I’m guessing you’re printing at the highest resolution, which probably has the paper move a very tiny fraction of an inch in-between passes to improve resolution perhaps? (I remember it was common for 9-pin printers to require two passes, for the medium-resolution mode.) (Also, have you gotten to experience how much slower it is to print color graphics on a dot matrix?)

@foone@digipres.club Oh yeah, I remember one of the most annoying failures was when the tractor feed mechanism decided to jam, and soon you have one or more full pages printed on the same position of the paper and torn, scrunched up paper around the tractor feed sprockets.

@bmartin427@techhub.social @foone@digipres.club We had an Okimate 10 for our Commodore 128 back then. Man it was slow, and the ribbons were expensive too. Color increased the slowness and cost too. It didn’t get used much.
