mastodon 4.7.2Vintage computing (#amiga 4-ever) by night, digital #culturalheritage at Swedish National Heritage Board by day. Living on the countryside with #family and #horses. Using #FOSS whenever possible. Give me a tiling window manager (preferably #i3) and an evening at the local #bbs and I'll be a happy camper.

I got a question yesterday on what I see as the "next big thing" in digital #culturalheritage.
And I realised just how boring I've become when I couldn't give a more inspiring answer than "we'll hopefully keep on releasing more high quality data from our collections, work on making it more interoperable with use of controlled vocabularies and maybe even sort out better solutions for long time preservation and storage".
What a banger!
@degville@fosstodon.org Just heard the opening of the latest episode of #LateNightLinux and got very curious on the Amiga network card. Which one, for what machine etc?
Hello @ennomeijers@mastodon.social ! I hope that you and NDE are doing well.
I thought I'd connect with you here on Mastodon and thank you for your generous contributions to the Swedish digital #culturalheritage network. I'm happy to report that we're now 118 members of the network and will soon launch the rebuilt SOCH aggregator using the Linked Art data model.
Please extend our deepest gratitude to your colleagues for all the inspiration and help you've given us!
Men uppvärmningspriserna ffs! 😬
New blog post on how to become the ultimate annoyance to your surroundings.
Oh, I use vim btw...

Finally sat down and got the Pi-hole install working (had some minor problems with Nginx-proxy and just couldn't find the energy to take care of it).
Since I run adblockers on every device I use daily there wasn't a huge change, but it was certainly interesting to see the ridiculous amount of content actually blocked in a day.
How about watching #enshittification happening in realtime? Let's just take a look at Affinity suite going from an awesome suite of tools that you could buy - you know the old fashioned "pay once, keep using" way - to a "free powerful app at no cost with an AI-powered premium subscription model".
Could there possibly be more red flags to raise?
Sometimes we just need a fucking nice story. This one made my day:
Wasn't this kinda accurate?

@degville I am fairly certain that Roadshow will be both faster, easier on the resources and more stable, so I guess some day I'll take care of the migration. But Miami kinda works ok still.
Speaking of parallel-port communication, have you tried Envoy? I use that between my A1200 and A3000. Really cool native Amiga networking with disk shares and other stuff.

@degville The old days of Amiga networking were indeed wonderful. I can't help feeling like the promise of what would become of computing was a lot more fun compared to today when everything we dreamt of is possible.
However there are of course positive things as well. Like Synergy. There's a great version in UHC Tools (https://driar.se/uhc/) together with a lot of other quality of life tools in that package if you haven't already seen it.
Snart årsmöte i Svenska Commodoreklubben!

@degville@fosstodon.org Not at all mad! I have the same card in my Amiga 3000 and it works like a charm. Our precious Amigas deserve stable connections. I should probably upgrade to Roadshow as well, but my ”backup copy” of Miami that I’ve had installed since the nineties still work so I haven’t got round to it yet.
