iPhone DIN: Fold a screen like a sheet of paper … and the content adjusts accordingly.
The iPhone Duo is a technical tribute to the DIN paper format. What makes DIN so ingenious is its aspect ratio of 1∶√2, which means that when a page is halved, it splits into two smaller pages with identical proportions, allowing text and images—and now screen content as well—to be scaled without distortion.

I just had the new iOS 27 build me my very own browser extension: a webfont inspector.
Here’s how: Tap the lines on the left side of Safari’s address bar, scroll down to “Describe Extension,” and simply describe the extension you’ve always dreamed of. Done.
I tested mine on https://www.hermes.com, the luxury brand that communicates using system fonts and Google Fonts.
A very insightful piece by Alex Peschel (he was one of our external TYPO BERLIN consultants from 2012 to 2018) on writing with AI: The results become more predictable and straightforward; there’s a lack of friction. ”The danger is not that machines will think like us, but that we start thinking like machines: narrowing possibilities for comfort and speed.“

My favorite quote from this interview with interface designer Paul-Ch. Thiele, who has written a book on branding (in German): “Brands are ultimately nothing more than interfaces between people and enterprises.”

And it gets even better. Here’s a passport photo of my great-grandfather from 1941: with a stamp and linen-textured paper. My prompt: restore and colourise! Impressive result.
The image generation feature built into ChatGPT 4.o is impressive. Whereas a year ago the response was “What you’re trying to do violates my rules”, today the AI delivers astonishing results within 90 sec. Here is a studio photograph of my great-grandfather from 1949, of which I only have a poor-quality copy. My prompt: “Please restore and colourise.” First attempt.

Foto: Marc Eckardt
That doesn’t happen very often: Fans have tears in their eyes because the old logo is back after 24 years. #zinnenwappen #crest
