I remember my dad criticizing our "Obrigkeitshörigkeit" (deference) and I encourage my kids to break some rules.

i watched that one ad you shared that is set at the drive through and i have no idea what it was about.
Also, you wrote that whoever decides on whether to allow an ad or not stated that they didnt get what it was about.
Maybe it is just not a good ad.
By all means, fight the fight and i will gladly continue to use your service but perhaps you'd see more of a passionate outcry here, if it didn't feel like you were trying to push an ad you knew would be disallowed so that you can claim it was banned?

@harrysintonen@infosec.exchange @thedarktangent@defcon.social but where do you register your domain? Even if you point it at your nameservers, it sits with someone. Isn't that a weak spot? I almost feel it is a mistake to not use a gmail.com where you can at least be pretty sure the owners will not accidentally drop it (and probably even get it back if they should). What do you recommend?

@thedarktangent@defcon.social I got a pretty good offer for my main domain recently and thought it would be nice if I could accept it but feared that someone was after my linked accounts as my entire life is connected to it. I told my wife she needs to make sure she renews the domain if I die. This is not robust at all. What is one to do and who should one have the domain with?

If there's competition, accountability can be a good product differentiator.
When I saw this diagram I thought, yes those are the companies I always complain about (excluding Nvidia, which I know too little about except for non-free Linux drivers, I think)

Yet, if hit by a bus, domain renewal would not cross my family's mind and fail sooner or later. Perhaps a subdomain with a trusted entity one buys once to control forever is what I should look into.

A lot of people on Mastodon seem to dislike GenAI and Crypto. Well, I don't.
What I dislike is X.com and since, as a Travala.com Ambassador ($AVA), I don't need to use X exclusively here's a quick post.
I hold a Travel Tiger NFT for access to the Diamond Tier, which translates to top travel rebates and travel credits. The lower tiers are also good though and there you don't require an NFT.
It is not about growing rich. It's about supporting a smaller company and tech stack I like (yes, blockchain is still awesome) and earning rewards in return.
Give travala.com a try, especially if you dislike crypto. Oh, and ask support at travala.com to match a price if you find it cheaper elsewhere.

@tante@tldr.nettime.org I don't agree. It is not the applications but the companies behind them that make them harmful in the pursuit of profits - which a business should do.
The use of Facebook and Whatsapp (but also Microsoft Windows) should be discouraged, if not prohibited.

@leavex I also don't get why people head to X to complain about X. A bit like people that reply-to all when someone accidentally sent an email to all by some distribution list by accident. Keep quiet.
