The IT industry must be singular in that it's the one industry I know which keeps on coming back every year with new buzzwords and novel mystifying terms for things we've been doing since 1950.
I was finally able to correct my emulator, ZenZX, to make it work with ZX Spectrum +3 floppy discs which weren't so floppy. With many thanks to @FromTheFourthPlanet@mas.to for her wonderful emulator, SpecIde, I learned massively from her generous gift and her deep knowledge of the machinery involved. https://github.com/MartianGirl/SpecIde
Now I'm able to load The Artist II by Ocean Software from a DSK image. I wasn't able to draw f** s** using its keyboard layout. Here's a dodgy invader for you.

It seems an utopian dream now, but with every little new achievement I get more confident we can get it done.
If you can afford it, after the untimely demise of the World of Spectrum database, it would be a good time to help leeching and seeding zxart as a preservation safe. Spectrum Computing and the Internet Archive are amazing resources, but it's public knowledge how archives are enduring persistent attacks. Nothing can beat redundancy of a full organised archive distributed globally.

Every day is ZX Spectrum day.
I like high resolution desktops, mid resolution terminals, and low resolution games.
RELEASE: plus3 v0.9.3a Go tool & library for reading and writing ZX Spectrum +3 disk images (.dsk).
Six commands: create, add, list, info, extract, delete — plus a BASIC detokeniser that turns tokenised Spectrum programs back into readable listings. The writer is verified against real Spectrum +3 hardware, and the pkg/diskimg library can be embedded in emulators, assemblers, and build tools.
This project had been dead for too long, the code had been lingering there for two years incomplete, in the middle of an unfinished refactoring campaign, and I decided to tie up all the loose knots and loose wires among my projects this week.
plus3 also ships docs on the obscure +3DOS format pitfalls I hit along the way, so the next person doesn't have to rediscover them.
Huge thanks to Marta @FromTheFourthPlanet@mas.to of the SpecIde emulator project — I learned a great deal from its FDC implementation.

Still in awe of how radically brilliant it was as both a UX decision and a branding decision to have created the Spectrum 128k menu at a time when nobody else did that.
Looking back, this simple insight about discoverable complexity is one of the single most important tools I have used forever since.

- ZX Draw - Like Deluxe Draw but specific for ZX Spectrum graphics
- subterm - A rich terminal with support for sub-cell text, proportional text, server-side fonts, and bitmap graphics.
plus3 v0.9.6is out — a maintenance release.plus3 reads and writes ZX Spectrum +3 disk images (.dsk), verified against real +3 hardware.
plus3 is now dependency-free: the CLI was rewritten on the Go standard library, so it builds offline from a clean checkout with nothing to download. Prebuilt binaries for Linux, macOS, Windows, and the BSDs are attached to the release.
Also new: a full command manual (MANUAL.md) documenting every command and flag.

When that's the case, crediting a machine is completely unnecessary.
