@pelle @faket https://simplex.chat/docs/server.html you can host your own server, but it has to be added manually and everyone you talk to must add it and select it to use it for how their messages get routed and the like

@bob@beamship.mpaq.org @openess@skrivel.se it depends on the homeserver whether they require a email or not :) its not a matrix wide thing

are you talking about matrix here or not?
if so
what apps only connect to the "main" instance? this sounds like stoat not matrix
what AI spaghetti code?
matrix has supported SSO for ages and the spec itself is moving towards native OAuth. Auth methods are up to the server admins, even matrix.org has various social login options like github and google

@arcanechat @GerhardD rooms on matrix arent centralised, they are hosted on all servers that have a user in the room so if the server the room was created on goes down, other users in the room on other HS's can still talk just fine :)

@finn@social.0x520.eu @ls@social.lsnet.eu element classic used jitsi widget for group calls, for 1:1 calls it used native calls with a turn/stun if the users cant directly connect to each other

@elephouse@social.tchncs.de @_elena@mastodon.social switching from signal to telegram makes 0 sense, going from a always encrypted chat app to one where in house e2ee not all rooms/chats are encrypted and not all clients support it
