Neurospicy polymath. Languages, music, cooking, picking up heavy things, making stuff (electronics, leather, fine metals, canvas, rope, mould making, weird shit), kink, my fur fam. Separated under one roof, madly in love with someone, sadly, under another roof. We'll get there eventually. Currently making a late-in-life career shift.

I don't know if it's an age thing, but I'm coming to the conclusion that, if I want to produce formatted text beyond what MarkDown can deliver, I need to learn LaTeX. (I am already using Mathjax in MarkDown, which is basically TeX/LaTeX maths formatting.)

And no, I don't want to use a fucking wordprocessor, I do NOT get on with GUI applications like that, and try to minimise my exposure, in order to retain what little exists of my sanity.

RE: @fionaorkneynews@mastodon.scot

I can't believe that this is coming up for 50 years, in a couple of years. But, then I tend to still think of myself as being about 25, when I am, in fact, 58.

You are only as old as you let people convince you to think that you are.

@nickofnz Makes me proud to live in an energy-positive state. And within walking distance of two major solar farms, with a third in the pipeline, and being somewhere flat, so that I can see a ridgeline about 40km away which, when the light is right, lets me see that, possibly 5km, if not more, of that ridge, is turbines. Or giants, if you happen to be Don Quixote.

@rikviergever I will need to set up something local, to get decent numbers. But I am in Australia, and picked Japan as my nearest node - and I was very impressed by what I got. Bedankt voor het delen!

@stevewetherill Thank you for a fascinating read - I had Jetset Will II on my Spectrum, when I was about 14-15. I was terrible at it, because I was terrible at all games (and then gave up, as writing software is way easier than using it). Thanks for the memories, and the fun. The music on mine was I Dovergubbens Halle, to give it its original Norwegian name. I recall a friend who had, I think a Commodore, with music I did not recognise, but can still recall - and now wondering if that was yours. Thanks to @arclight for boosting this into my feed.

@brucelawson Wow! Er, better not look at too much, just right now, seeing as I am currently bereft of sausages, and am not shopping until tomorrow. South Australia has a pretty good mix of German, Italian, Spanish, British, Slovenian. Spanish because everyone does chorizo, German. Italian, British, from migration, Slovenian from micro-migration, just one family, but DAMN, there stuff is good.

Unfortunately the original alt text is "baby warthog" which isn't particularly illuminating, but thanks for there actually BEING alt text. Picture shows, what to me, looks like a baby piglet, but ginger, with black stripes, and SO FUCKING CUTE. Standing in mud. No, maybe longer nose than a pig. Would definitely cuddle, if given a bath first. Stick to dogs, Smiffy, you really don't need a warthog in your life, at your age.
