Got washing to do? Today's a good day to do it. Lots of wind and clear, sunny skies mean we're generating lots from our renewable sources (currently over two-thirds of generation in Great Britain).

Perhaps they should broadcast the energy mix with the weather report?

Of every three pounds you pay in bills to Thames Water, one is servicing the company's debts. Loans taken out while paying billions of your money to private shareholders.

The company is barely a going concern (and certainly not if you consider the costs of fixing neglected infrastructure). The government must put this failed company out of its misery. Privatisation has failed.

I’m sitting in Lion Café in #MileEnd, having a coffee and reading the papers. This place would normally be bustling with passing trade from the local bus stop, but the stop is closed due to the Thames Water works that are now expected to continue until the middle of August.

I’ve advised that there is a scheme for business disruption and I hope the owners can stay afloat while they apply and wait for a decision.
