RE: @stroughtonsmith@mastodon.social
Yet a surgeon will always use a scalpel. Making this arguments an age thing is dismissive. You want the best design for the tool you need / like, not the most common design for the most common tool.

@dmoren@zeppelin.flights @Gte@mastodon.social I’m very much hoping that “the fall” in that context will be *extremely* targeted…
@Gte@mastodon.social @dmoren@zeppelin.flights thing is right now doesn’t feel like we have agency. We can embrace or ignore it but everything is going at breakneck velocity whether I care for it or not. We’re left philosophizing, waiting for the inevitable first fall to see what’s left standing.
@schwa@mastodon.social must be Europeans.
If you have kids in your life you might want to check this book project.
To be intellectually honest maybe they should rename from Meta to Sloppo.

@stroughtonsmith@mastodon.social agreed, same way as a scalpel won’t be a great steak knife. But I’m stretching my metaphor. I think it’s ok for the Mac to be less things to less people as time goes by, because there are now much better suited alternatives for most tasks as you point out. So what’s the best that the Mac can be, for those who care?
@schwa@mastodon.social it’s great if you want a console, not a computer. I was looking for something that would let me never connect mouse and keyboard and attach my PC to a big TV, and so far it mostly fits the bill. Installation was also exceedingly easy.
