The only constant worth sharing is that I am always learning something new. Usually it's something I should've learnt before!

I think the fediverse is full of autodidacts because you have to teach yourself how to use the fediverse
#autodidact #selflearning
I am learning that editing dotfiles is alot more fun when you are doing it in your own time on a project you are enjoy that makes your workflow like 5% easier.
Not so much when you are trying to do some simple task and you are forced to delve into config docs.
#kitty config docs are great for example!
Installing #ultramarinelinux on my laptop
It has been my favorite "just works" distro since I have tried it but have been putting off hopping due to distro inertia.
No more! Beautiful fedora based distro on my laptop NOW.
I have the intense urge to murder everyone at Apple who went through with the idea of Activation Lock.
I don't even want to use your OS I just want to use Linux. No information is on the drive because I reset it.
This is not some "advanced security measure" this is just DRM.
This the kind of thing that pisses me off about the environmentally conscious era of apple.
They say they care about the environment but they make second hand macbooks fucking ewaste especially if the original user is not technically inclined.
Which IMO they likely would be! Because Mac does not inspire curiosity about computers. It's a black box. When you learn about computers by using an Apple device you don't learn computers you learn Apple devices.
A senior programmer fixing a juinors code is dialectics

The fun part of math (or at least algebra) for me was getting to play with numbers.
Exercising control and manipulating numbers in a way that followed certain rules was *fun*
The same way a game developer gives and restricts the agency of the player, math gives and restricts the agency of the student.
Reading the DSM pre-alpha and turns out I got too much black bile. Looking into this.
I am starting to try using the terminal the way people use emacs
I found a kanban TUI called #kabmat which hasn't been updated in like 3 years but it has vim-like keybinds which makes it pretty intuitive for vim users.
I hope one day I will spend more time in the terminal then my Web browser (this includes terminal based Web browsers)
I want to develop tools that hate the user
Is Creative Commons called that because of the Commons??
I'm not sure why this just clicked now
You know you have the capability to make someone you know and loves life 5% worse.
You should do from time to time...
Elaboration coming on the 15th of some month in the future... if I remember...
Thinking about intrinsic vs extrinsic rewards in games.
When you play a game with a focus on exploration I think there is an intrinsic reward of the act of exploring and the hope of an extrinsic reward like a cool item or mechanic to find.
A fighting game is a little tricky. The player could have the goal to achieve mastery at the game but is the goal fuelled by an inherit desire to be good, an external desire to beat other people or a bit of both?
In the fighting game example both rewards are a result of the design around the game instead of being literal items in the game.
Is there an example of a game that only has intrinsic rewards??
I'm not sure because even if it is a single player game you can be rewarded by being further along then a friend or something.
I'm learning emacs and I ran a program that looped a message forever because I figured I could just ctrl + c in the emacs terminal. Either I couldn't or the program ruined everything forever...
I was trying it out in terminal mode (emacs -nw) so that mightve played a role??
Fuck it. Git for everything ever.
Git for code
Git for blender
Git for documents
Git for art
Git for notes
Version control everything ever...
I wanna set some #polygowgoals for this month:
1. I wanna start #linuxfromscratch
2. I wanna finish this one tutorial on modelling in #blender
3. I wanna start learning how to draw
4. I want to finish a book by the end of the month.
Tomorrow I'll make a spreadsheet to help me track these
Free (as in Libre) Use Slut
Is it possible to have an Android phone that is terminal based with a physical keyboard that isn't awful to use?
Just a little portable ARM based linux computer with a cool little keyboard

The closest thing to putting books you've read on your resume is linking your good reads.
"*Technically* I haven't completed any formal training for being a manager but I *have* read alotttt of self help..."
I love Linux the 80% of the time. The other 20 is spent on some weird driver issue.
I can't for thr life of me figure outbwhy this laptop was perfectly fine for wifi before I hopped to ultramarine. Then when I swapped to Nobara the issue persisted. Now I'm on lubuntu and the issue persists
Do keep in mind throughout all of these im troubleshooting, installing broadcom packages etc.
Now im going to run with Endeavor (where it all started). It also had a wifi issue but it got solved at some point I forget how.
Hopefully I will remember and hopefully this isn't all a hardware issue.
Writing smth called Quantam Habits that goes deeper into the scientific basis Atomic Habits doesn't delve into (for good reason imo)
When a piece of Adobe software or whatever does something annoying you find it annoying.
Not because the software or company holds any malice but because the company has become so apathetic towards you that they do not care.
I do just want to develop tools or games that make it feel like the developer hates the users. Pure malice.
It's a dawgy dawg world out there rrruff ruff!!!
I saw this ad that was like
"that app you vibe coded is being used in every office in the country"
And then the guy goes "wow! Am I a millionaire now?"
The problem with this is I don't think any company would pay for some vibe coded app if they can just develop their own. Vibe coding implies little time and effort.
If I got a tattoo everytime I thought a distro was going to be "The One" my skin would be more ink then flesh
For some reason my laptop keyboard has stopped working after booting. Arch btw!!1
