I ❤ Star Trek, every incarnation of it. Period. Don't try to read any negativity in my posts - it's simply not there.

Look what arrived in my mailbox today - "The Art of #StarTrekLowerDecks"! 😍 This is an excellent book with many many pictures, design sketches and background tidbits. Each episode is covered on 4-8 pages and it includes COUNTLESS beautiful images and orthos of all the various alien and Starfleet ships seen on the show. Of course, all the different versions of the USS Cerritos (inside+outside) seen on the show are also covered. My verdict: "This book will nourish me for a long, long time!" 😊
The cargobay transporter platform in #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye"⬆️ has changed position slightly in comparison to "The Hunted"⬅️ and "Hollow Pursuits"➡️. It will next be seen as a podium at the Khitomer Conference in "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country"⬇️.
I've always found it interesting that the Bajorans put their emblem everywhere (and I mean EVERYWHERE, here at the DS9 temple entrance) but their religious leaders do not wear it anyhwere on their body, neither Kai Opaka (here in #StarTrekDS9's "Battle Lines") nor Kai Winn.
The circular/spiral element of the Bajoran emblem is seen on its own again in #StarTrekDS9's "Progress". It can be found above the door to Mullibok's house. The spiral alone also must have significance to the Bajorans.
The Bajoran map in #StarTrekDS9's "The Storyteller" is interesting as it does not contain the full Bajoran emblem but just the circular spiral part of the emblem, seen in all four corners of the map. In the future, this spiral will sometimes appear on its own, apart from the rest of the logo. 🧵 1/2
I'm really looking forward to "The Star Trek Archive: 100 Artifacts and Stories from the Final Frontier" by Ben Robinson, which will be released in July. It seems the title has changed and so has the cover, giving us a better idea of which objects will additionally be covered in the book. :-)
I love when we get a good look at the aft beidge stations on the USS Enterprise-D. Here, the engineering side panel is nicely seen in its entirety in #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye".
The filming equipment that was still visible at the top of the screen in this bridge shot in the original version of #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye"⬆️ was digitally removed for the remastered HD version of the episode ⬇️.
Here's a comparison of the E-Band Parametric Signal Analysis, as seen on the aft bridge Science I station in the original ⬆️ and remastered ⬇️ versions of #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye". It's interesting how the format of the animated LCARS display (added in post) has changed.
I just pre-ordered my copies of Liz Kloczkowski "Rebuilding the Bridge". Take a look at the sample pages and you'll see: every voice is heard and valued! You'll learn soo much about what it took to recreate the Enterprise-D bridge. When it comes to branding their own Empire, the Klingons know how to do it. In #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye" you can find the Klingon emblem in several places, including on the familiar silver shields and metallic table. Learn more here at EAS:

Well, we watched the second 80's Columbo episode "Murder, Smoke and Shadows"↖️↙️↘️ last night and there was another recurring Modern Props console (2nd pic) often seen on #StarTrekTNG, like here in "Home Soil"↗️... :-) The old Modern Props website listed it as "Modern Props designed and fabricated computerized lab / medical / control room cabinet with six burner lights on top panel that light in sequence with remote control."
As promised, #StarTrekDS9's "Captive Pursuit" features a much better look at the Bajoran phaser pistol. The highly stylized version of the Bajoran emblem only consist of a red oval and a golden circle here. Like I sad, once you start looking, the Bajoran emblem appears in every #DS9 episode! :-)
There's one final triad of alien planet (surface) paintings by Mike Minor in #StarTrekTOS' "Is There in Truth no Beauty" but we sadly only see the bottom one (featuring a cool alien pyramid) and the bottom of the middle one (it's...it's...green!). I'm sure the label says "Aldebaran V". 🧵 1/2
Picard plays with his ready room crystal (while looking out the window) for the first time in #StarTrekTNG's "The Best of Both Worlds I". Telling Riker to accept a promotion and leave the Enterprise-D must have been hard for Picard, hence he plays with his "comfort crystal" when doing so. 🧵 1/3
Misconception #3: "There's only one ready room crystal in #StarTrekTNG". Nope! In a few early season 2 episodes ("Where Silence Has Lease"↖️, "The Outrageous Okona"↗️, "The Schizoid Man" ↙️, "Unnatural Selection"↘️), two different crystals can be seen lying next to each other on Picard's desk. 🧵 1/3
#StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye" introduces a new cargo bay transporter console which will be in use until the end of the series, replacing the previous consoles. This desiogn will be used for at least one other console later in the series as well.
We see the Bajoran General insgnia for the first time in #StarTrekDS9's "The Circle" where they are worn by General Krim. This rank features two Bajoran rank insignia shaped like the Bajoran emblem, one worn on each side of the collar.
There are several different windows, all shaped like abstract versions of the Bajoran emblem, in Mullibok's home on Jeraddo in #StarTrekDS9's "Progress". In one of the coolest shots, you can see one Bajoran emblem window through a differently shaped Bajoran emblem window ↘️.
#StarTrekDS9's "Progress" is another early episode with numerous appearances of stylized versions of the Bajoran emblem. Here a highly decorative version of the emblem can be seen on the inside and outside of the door of Mullibok's house on Jeraddo.
While the Mike Minor paintings (all only appearing in season 3 of #StarTrekTOS) that I wrote about in the last three days appeared in at least 2 episodes, these three paintings are only seen in the rec room in "Is There in Truth no Beauty?". The middle one fives me Tatooine vibes.
I'll be covering the remaining four episodes of #StarTrekTNG (all season 5) in which Picard is playing with his ready room crystal tonight. The stakes couldn't get any higher in these episodes! There are also two more misconceptions to cover in the next days, plus some cool crystal shots! :-)
Kivas Fajo's precious Mark Off-Zel vase in #StarTrekTNG's "The Most Toys"↖️ is later often seen again in Kkingon contexts' "Reunion"↗️, "The Mind's Eye"⬅️, "Redemption I"➡️, it even appears in Worf's possession in his Enterprise-D quarters in "Rightful Heir"↙️ and "Parallels"↘️.
#StarTrekTOS' "Is There in Truth no Beauty?"⬅️⬆️⬇️ and "Day of the Dove"➡️ (both in the Enterprise rec room) feature three more alien planet surface paintings by Mike Minor. I particularly love the top one featuring an alien ziggurat (on Alpha ???) and a large crescent moon in the background.
These shots of the ceilings of two rooms on Romulan warbirds show that the interrogation room in #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye"⬆️ is a redress of the ready room in "Data's Day"⬇️ (and other episodes). The hexagonal ceiling light is pointing in different directions in the two shots.
#StarTrekDS9's "Past Prologue" features the first appearance of the Bajoran phaser pistol. It will be seen much better in later episodes but the weapon has a highly stylized and simplified version of the familiar Bajoran emblem on its sides. It consists of a red oval with an off-center golden circle inside.
These screenshots from #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye"⬆️ and "Time Squared"⬇️ illustrate nicely how the shuttlebay doors were hidden behind a fake wall and the second level of the cargo bay set when the shuttlebay ⬇️ was redressed as the cargobay ⬆️.
#StarTrekDS9's "Progress" featured many versions of the Bajoran emblem on the iside and outside of Mullibok's homse on Jeraddo. Towards the end of the episode, however, there's also a really good shot of Kira's rank insgnia which is also based on the Bajoran emblem and can be seen here.
Here's an overview of the 16 paintings created by Mike Minor that were actually seen in season 3 of #StarTrekTOS. I've also included a quote from Starlog Issue 25 (August 1979) in which Mike Minor himself reveals how his paintings ended up on #TOS. I hope you enjoyed this little foray into space art. :-)
I don't know whtat this is but if you look closely at the left side of the original ⬅️ and remastered (even more so there) ➡️ version of this shot in #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye", you can see that something is poking into the shot, I don't know what this is. 😅
Here's a comparison of the Romulan emblems seen on the Warbird back wall in #StarTrekTNG's "Data's Day"⬆️ and "The Mind's Eye"⬇️. As can be seen, they are slightly different (the border of the bottom triangle, for example). Learn more at Ex Astris Scientia:
https://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/inconsistencies/romulan_emblem.htm
These alien planet (surface) paintings by Mike Minor are only seen in Miranda Jones' guest quarters in #StarTrekTOS' "Is There in Truth No Beauty?". This is is actually also three separate paintings (notice the three labels) and the bottom one reminds me of Vulcan.
We are nearing the halfway point of my ready room crystal coverage (there's much more to say then I originally anticipated). We'll start tackling the tough moments, as can be seen in these tense ready room crystal scenes from six episodes of #StarTrekTNG. They are in broadcast order: Funny how they form a little story! 😅
Here's a comparison of the second scene featuring the E-Band Parametric Signal Analysis. as seen in the original ⬅️ and remastered ➡️ versions of #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye". Like in the previous scene, the whole LCARS display was stratched to fill out the whole black area.
In the original version of #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye", the reflection of Data and Geordi in the MSD in main engineering is static ➡️ and does not match the reverse angle shots ⬅️ (Geordi's arms are not folded). This was fixed for the remastering and the reflections move.
Here's a look at the extra playing Sela in the original ⬅️ and remastered ➡️ versions of #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye". After brightening up the footage, the extra (according to Memory Alpha played by Debra Dilley, here seen in "Lessons") can be seen a little better in the remastered version.
Look closely and you'll see that the Bajoran cave painting in Tosk's guest quarters that Odo has shape-shifted into in #StarTrekDS9's "Captive Pursuit" also features the Bajoran emblem with the circular lower bit soubling as a cave opening. :-)
The stakes couldn't be any higher in #StarTrekTNG's "A Matter of Time" as the life of more than 20 million people on Penthara IV is in danger, so Picard is playing with his ready room crystal and looking out the window when asking Rasmussen for some future knowledge about what to do. 🧵 1/5
In the original version of #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye"⬆️, the extra (later revealed to be Sela) standing in for Denise Crosby, whose voice is only used here, is blacked in post production, so her identity is not given away. This concealing effect is not used in the remastered version of this shot ⬇️.
We get a better look at the Bajoran emblem at the Bajoran temple entrance on the Promenade (opposite Quark's) in #StarTrekDS9's "Babel". This illuminated display will stay in place until mid-season 2. It will be seen better (less oversaturated) later in season 1. Please hold on until then! 😅
The octagonal monitors and light columns on the Romulan warbird in #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye"↖️ also appeared on a warbird in "Contagion"↘️. They also appear on Ferengi ships ("Peak Performance"⬅️, "The Price"➡️, "Ménage à Troi"↙️) but originally are from the reactor room in "Star Trek II"↘️.
Misconception #4: "Picard plays with his crystal in over 70 episodes". Nope, in all 94+ episodes in which the crystal is seen in the ready room, Picard only plays with it in these seven episodes, all within 1 1/2 seasons of the show (late season 3 to mid season 5). But when he does play with it - oh boy, shit has hit the fan! 🙈 More later!
In #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye"↖️, Sela (played by a stand-in) stills wears a Romulan uniform made from the same generic material seen in earlier episodes ("Contagion"↙️, "Data's Day"↘️). When she later appears in "Redemption I+II"↗️. her uniform is made from a newand shiny material.
