our friend glassmemphis has been getting some love lately:

i've built a whole new preset management/soundware layer to work across all of my plugins.

the visual language used by all of my plugins has been coming into focus, and glassmemphis is now better aligned with queencharlotte and punchbuggy.

this is officially v0.1.4.

i have a ton of bass pedals... DIs, drives, all-in-ones... they're all cool in different contexts, but i've never felt like any specific one of them is MY sound.

i never would have thought i would have been able to nail it with a plugin. i built meatsausage as an experiment... can i build a bass amp inspired by legendary designs with my own naunces? evidently i can!

feels amazing to play a bass through it..

starting to have a backlog to release!

now we're starting to get somewhere.

i'm a sucker for a lightshow. that's kinda why i need that gnome screen blank extension i built.

starting to get a feel for where this wants to head. the living reverb itself is the main feature of the display. now i just need to organize those controls into better groups, and i think we'll be in the ballpark.

the lightshow is cool tho. glassmemphis also has a fun lightshow.

I discovered "Scream" by Cure Audio today.

After a couple of hours of hacking, I was able to get it running on Linux.

@mosgaard awesome... then i can just jettison my build as soon as they've got an official build available. easiest solution.

@mosgaard wish i could take credit... i just took the open source plugin and filled in the missing bits to make it build and work on linux. https://github.com/Cure-Audio/Scream if you're interested at all, feel free to reach out to the original author to see what their interest is in a linux version? if they're not interested but are cool with it, i can also maintain a linux port myself.

@amadeus morten was unable to get it working on his system. i suspected some font issues, so i adjusted the build and now it uses the original font embedded in the binary. he never tried out the second build, so i have no idea if that would have changed anything for him.

@mosgaard you try it out yet? fwiw, I'm not necessarily interested in releasing it... some of the libraries it depends on don't look interested in Linux patches, so I'm not interested in fighting about it. I'll probably just maintain it for myself. I dunno?

@polarity@social.bitwig.community Still hoping for a REAPER fix, other than not using the UI. 😐

@polarity@social.bitwig.community Yes. I followed the instructions carefully. Have all the necessary packages installed. Not sure what I could have missed. I have a second system I will try it on later tonight also. Don't know if it's relevant but both of my workstations are running X11 instead of wayland.

@polarity@social.bitwig.community Ok... So on my second machine (also Ubuntu 24.04/x86_64/X11)... I was able to get this working as both CLAP/VST3. It flashes white for just a split second at startup, but then the UI shows. Latest REAPER. I'll re-test the first machine again sometime this weekend... but it was staying solid white on multiple launches. I believe my test hygiene was ok. Wonder if maybe it's significantly better in beta8, but there's still some kind of a subtle race condition?

Replying to
@polarity@social.bitwig.community There should be nearly zero difference between the two systems other than the hardware. They intentionally run the same software stack. They do have some differences in installed packages, but I wouldn't expect that to matter for REAPER or this plugin. Will test again and report back.

Replying to
@polarity@social.bitwig.community @mosgaard@uddannelse.social Pretty sure it's daw related already. REAPER has been a known issue with the UI. I had a blue screen with beta7, and it's back to white with beta8. I definitely have all of the deps installed.
