This is a trip down memory lane! At some point of the late 1992 and early 1993, I started The Escape BBS and it joined FidoNet in April 1993 (using FrontDoor by @joho@mastodon.online ), until it eventually turned into an ISP business for a few years. https://nodehist.fidonet.org.ua/?address=1%3A132%2F220

Hmm… wonder if all of those “identity bicycles “ in Captchas is just to power Seattle’s bicycle signals?

If you’re near the #seattle #BallardLocks, Heron Habitat Helpers is hosting their free annual Great Blue Heron Chick Birthday Party on Sunday, June 14th from 11 AM to 2 PM.

It’s always a fun event and a great chance to see Seattle’s largest Great Blue Heron colony with 63 active nests — most with at least two chicks. And even if birds aren’t your thing, the Locks are just a fantastic place to spend a currently forecasted beautiful weekend afternoon. See you there!

That was about to be a super productive flight — don’t worry, they fixed the Wi-Fi with a classic reboot.

I’ve decided to move here from @etheriau@mstdn.ca .

So glad I found the Seattle Recycle and Garbage App — no more waiting for the neighbors to put things out to remember if this week is recycling or not… only to find out one person didn’t know and put it out!

With so many of the software companies doing layoffs, focusing on Senior+, and recent grads being unable to find engineering roles, this is a topic that I've been percolating -- without SDE1's, we don't have SDE2's, and eventually wont have Senior SDE’s -- yes, AI will change how we work and things will change, but a bit early to bet against SDE1's right this second for all engineering organizations: https://theengineeringmanager.substack.com/p/who-will-be-the-senior-engineers

If you have changed instances, you may want to double check the list of people you are following. I've been noticing that I've been getting through all of new toots, however, I also noticed that I was missing some of my favs -- turns out that when I imported my followers, some subset of those (on the order of 50 / ~22%) didn't make its way in. Some have issues, which make sense... but the rest I was able to re-follow.. 🤷

What?!?! I thought this AI stuff is suppose to be making me faster!!! :)

RE: @FitnessSyncer@techhub.social

Shipping something you actually use yourself hits different.

I track my health across Stelo, Withings, Apple Health, and more. Now I can just ask Claude "how's my glucose trending?" or "was I more active this week?" and get a real answer.

To make this real, FitnessSyncer also has a ton of performance improvements -- everything loads much faster than ever before!

Building this was a joy! Seeing what you do with this will surely be next level!

One thing the mastodon instance migration guide didn't include is if you use https://fed.brid.gy , you need to redo it... after a week. Just updated mine. Oh, and its now @etheriau.cosocial.ca.ap.brid.gy

Today in 2010, myscenicdrives.com was released to the world! Happy Birthday @myscenicdrives@techhub.social !

Seems like most of the time you are in the middle of doing something interesting with Claude, you have to re-login... and not one of those easy go-to-the-browser-and-click-authorize, but one of those where you need to wait for the e-mail... and that e-mail always seems to take forever…

These Bitbucket maintenance windows are painful... I guess its better all at once than the Github outage jumprope that has been the norm lately…

Heron Habitat Helpers will be hosting their Annual Great Blue Heron Chick Birthday Party on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 11 AM to 2 PM at Commodore Park — I will be there and hope to see you! #seattle
