So Fediverse, last week I was laid off by my employer, Elastic, as part of a wider reorg that made my position redundant. 7% of the global workforce was impacted, so I'm not alone in this 😢 I would appreciate boosts as I'm now looking for my next job. Preferably in community open source, but with the crazy market, a mortage and a baby I appreciate any lead. I'm a backend engineer with strong #cloudinfrastructure , #devops and #observability skills. I spent the last 5 years working with Golang, but have previous experience with Ruby, Python, PHP and JavaScript (that shows how old I am I guess). I'm searching remotely from Italy. @davidculley@hachyderm.io this is huge! If I interpret the ruling correctly not only the previous deal collapses, but under the new case law where all independent agencies are unconstitutional no other deal on such basis can be made 🤯

@davidculley@hachyderm.io that's how I read it as well. But it's still a huge blow to data transit basis, which was already pretty unstable due to all the previous relevant opinions

@je5perl @HennaVirkkunen very disappointed to see Your name on this message. The Parliament already expressed a vote and this message is inappropriate. Voting for Chat Control is not acting on the issue, nor an action to address any grave concerns on child sexual abuse material, that we all share. European's report themselves clarify that it didn't produce any meaningful conviction. Stop wasting our money in pushing this agenda and start investing where it matters: awareness, teaching good digital behaviours and dedicated crime investigations.

@tezoatlipoca@mas.to @neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk while what you say it's true I think would be great having a proper (and verifiable) confirmation as a customer that actors consented and are of legal age + a mechanism to revoke. I think we have the means to do it (think of digital signing consents or age verification), but legislators lack the necessary understanding of technological means. Which just results in bad laws.
