This week I've updated my game from a couple of years ago, Oust, to a new 1.2.0 version.
There's a few bug fixes and quality of life changes.
Today I restored the editor for download after making another little test asteroid field with it.
It was a nice way to take my mind off the unpleasant heatwave here for a little bit.

Killing a prisoner you're trying to rescue used to stick until you reentered the asteroid, but now they are beamed back to their prison.
I think the old way was too punishing tho more "realistic" and maybe "No escape; even in death!" fits the scifi dystopian feel quite well anyway.

I never thought I'd find the tokens to do anything about it before and it's only now I'm making the big (Love2D) Oust I considered making it configurable and started thinking about it.
Test levels are always a bit daft, but you get the idea; there will be more polish in future (and more challenge). The next thing is to make these actions update the player save and persist at which point it's almost a game 😮.
And becomes more of a pain to debug too, of course.
Soon it will be 90% done and I will be on to the second 90% aka "getting it done".
As inevitable as a software update when you need that piece of software immediately, I found a bug after yesterday's change. Fortunately it only cost a couple of minutes and tokens to fix.
After a tiny tweak to the level data it's now also within 1 byte of going over limit so we're all full up for the moment for Oust 1.2.0 RC5.
Got bored trying to recover from yet another sinus infection yesterday(YASI?) and tried a bit of token hunting in PICO-8 Oust. There's a good chance I've broken something, but 85 tokens is 85 tokens (assuming fixing any introduced bugs doesn't eat them all up).
For once, I don't really have any idea what to do with these extravagant riches.
We set up a spare security camera and have been monitoring the nest. There have been a few run-ins with crows around tussling with the parents who had taken to sitting overnight with the chick again. We also found a broken egg on the ground yesterday. This morning, Sky (born behind a satellite dish) was hopping from the nest itself to the beam supporting the dish.
Shortly after, a crow flies past pursued by the adult doves and Sky panics and flies the nest! 1/n
