This fall (i.e., today) I'm joining University of Michigan-Flint as an Associate Professor in the College of Innovation & Technology.
What I've learned through this journey is that I wildly underestimate the time and energy needed to move offices. :)

It’s official - our team at Oakland University has been awarded $2.5 million across two grants from the US Army to make foundational advances to rapid prototyping and mixed methods research in VR. I’d say more but it’s literally top secret. :)
Can't wait to work with my colleagues across three departments in our School of Engineering!

She used sexual consent robots as a context to foreground ethics in robot PD methods.

We conducted a participatory design study about how VR dating apps could be designed to prevent harm. Consent (how a user agrees to a specific interaction) emerged as a central theme in design concepts. Implications for social VR design more generally.
With @group@hci.social 2023 officially over, I’m profoundly grateful for the new friendships made and old friendships continued as Community Chair. Really can’t imagine a better return to in-person conferences than this. Until ’25!
I’ll be presenting our lab’s latest paper at ACM GROUP 2023 next week about augmenting women’s safety in online dating through novel AI concepts for risk detection and harm prevention.
