The best thing they could have done was refuse to be complicit, but not resign and stay in post.
By resigning, that just speeds up the process of the installation of a complicit replacement. Stay in post and tell em to get fucked.

It's either this or 'boots on the ground' that is the cause of all the senior level command resignations. The only question is, how far down the list will he need to go before he finds a general who is bat shit enough to carry out his orders?

I suppose them all going at the same time adds to the impact of it.
We (you, I'm in the UK) are through the looking glass a bit here. Normal rules don't apply any more. I would say it's time to really start to push back with everything you have available to you (before it's too late).
