finally had a (partially) not-rainy day out Saturday, so new bundle for #MushroomMonday ... getting out REALLY helps with mindfulness and mental health

as we start to tip toward spring, I'm actually getting close to wrapping up all my old pre-PNW California highlights for #ThrowbackThursday ! but a few seasonally-appropriate #Bloomscrolling things, thes from Tule Elk Reserve in CA, April 2023

maybe technically a #ThrowbackThursday ? recent visit to the Orpheum in Vancouver, to see the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra perform the score to Lion King live to picture (which was imperfect, and in my opinion better as a result of that, made it human, made it real), evidently the building dates back to the 1920's and the golden era of theaters, has some history with haunting (and as a result of that fame has been used as a set for a number of films & TV shows), the overhead dome I found particularly enjoyable, lots of details

@dillyd I'm not sure if you *invented* this tag or not, but you're the one who brought it to my attention, and thank you for that 😁 it articulated what I think is kinda my general philosophy in how to appreciate the world, not just in photography, so I'll definitely be using it a LOT (hopefully not overusing it, but realistically probably that too 😅 ) if you can find magic in the ordinary, it opens up SO much more to appreciate, makes life that much richer, especially when there's so much bleakness abounding, offers that much more to counter it ❤️
attaching one I think I posted before, but it probably got buried because I put it behind an alcohol trigger warning, not sure if that was advisable or not

@helenclayton not sure where you're located, but in my small-town corner in the northwest of the US, these are "A Thing" :) when I was doing a "one photo a day" challenge in 2024, I spotted one on a popular nature hike. It had been placed there with obvious great care and deliberation, so I didn't want to take it from its intended home or deprive other walkers of the privilege of spotting it, so I left it where it prominently was. Glad they have loving homes regardless of where they end up! #MagicInTheMundane

and fair's fair, the color version, which I personally feel is equally interesting, just in its own way ("Lolli" filter on phone photo app)

@Jgbird honesty and intent... well said, nail on the head. Yes, you also have incredible technique, but the sincerity is what I appreciate in your work (and what I strive for in all mine, for all its other amateur qualities). Whatever drama others try to stir up, and wherever you go, never stop being you ❤️

@SallyStrange Bobby used to do some guest shows with my tiny hometown community college jazz band, before he got famous (before I was born) and again later in life (where I got to be on the same stage as him, my god that was a treat). I only discovered Robert's history last year when I stumbled on a vinyl record of "Deep River and other classic Negro Spirituals", and connected the dots... equally phenomenal talent <3

@helenclayton though it certainly culturally fits the area, I doubt it originated here either, which makes me feel like "tracing the origins of this as A Thing" would make an absolutely delightful and fascinating youtube investigative documentary 😊 I wonder where it started, and how many corners of the globe it's reached

@quasirealsmiths@beige.party so, So, SO much this ❤️ it's the visible love and care that goes into everything here that makes the space special, and even if it's not something I'm personally passionate about, that secondhand passion really rubs off, and makes everything a joy

@Jgbird@mas.to fascinating to see how much feather droops over the top of the beak 😮
I'm always trying to befriend the local corvids, but have had minimal luck still, just poor timing >.< I try to have muffins or some such to share, but every time I see one around, I'm short, and every time I'm stocked up, they're nowhere around

@Jgbird@mas.to the fact that the quail I'm familiar with ("California Quail") has a qualifier, OBVIOUSLY suggests there's other varieties, but I had never even heard of, let alone seen, any others before, absolutely captivating 😍 absolutely wonderful pose and personal connection <3

@nomi@shark.community I threw it out to my social circles (Telegram) and someone suggested Wreck2Restored?
@Wreck2Restored@www.youtube.com
they aren't west coast, so it's a long shot, but could be worth reaching out to maybe?
