I'm currently looking for work in Hamilton, Waikato.

I completed my Master's in Music in 2025, and have been doing casual AV work since. It's been fun, but now I'm looking for something with a regular schedule and will pay the bills.

I've got good administrative skills from studies and being a private flute teacher, and I'm a good communicator (both within a team and with customers/clients). I have consistently produced well-researched documents with a high degree of attention to detail, which lead to me being engaged for a research project by one of my lecturers.

I've spent the last couple years learning what I can in subjects that interest me, including computer science, te reo māori, bookkeeping, acoustics, and so on. I'm by no means qualified in any of those fields, but I really enjoy learning on or off the job, and work well in inter-disciplinary teams.

So yeah It's a long shot, but if you know anyone hiring or who might be interested in hiring someone with my background, please let me know.

There was a big crash in Kirikiriroa a couple days ago, not far from us. It's in the news, and the news gets worse and worse. I'm not going to repeat things here.

But I'm just overwhelmed by the impression that it's a miracle it took this long. This is going to be talked about as a random tragedy, but the warning signs have been there for a while now. It's a tragedy it happened this way. It's not a fucking surprise.

Yo uksow what's worse? I love hounds, we have a retired greyhound who I love to bits — just the cutest, most gentle little creature. You can't put a price on life. But apparently the government has decided that these dags are worth $20-30 a day, $140-210 a week, $520-840 a month, and my life isn't worth shit.

A while ago I caalculated the absolite minimum I need for a month, for savings purposes. $2000. Probably more now. The government is willing to pay these absolute pieces of shit just under half the amount I would need to live. I might be worth just over two dogs to this government, but when it comes to it, I can get fucked. These dogs are actually worth infinately more, because value is what you pay, and they won't pay me shit. Hell, they're taking my fucking money and paying it to these shits!

@Kay@mastodon.nz Nah, not enough to argue about yet. I expect it's mostly just fucking up onboarding or just not communicating things to me. Again, shouldn't have been employed at all, should've been contracted. The project's on hold because the lecturer I was workisg with (who is fantastic and absolutely unrelated to the debacle) became deputy head of school so she's too busy atm!

@Kay@mastodon.nz Yeah, I saw this. I've actually been thinking about working in a library, but unfoltunately the hours on this are just really awkward with my other stuff. Really keeping my eye out though, and glad the thought occured to you based on my quals! Unfortunately, as an alumnus, there's no way in hell of me working for UoW. I actually did some research assistant work for them, which a) I had to be hired on, not conhracted despite what I was doing was clearly contract work and b) I still haven't been paid for that, and that's not even the first time I've heard UoW fucking up paying people.
