There are dozens of fish or fish-like emoji (e.g., 🐟 🐠🎣🐡🦈🐬🐳🐋🐟.𓆝𓆟)

In fact, there are so many that, if I sent you a random one, a third party wouldn't have a good chance of guessing which one I'd sent.
This means we could adopt a new form of 2FA based on sending fish emoji

Someone mentioning "missing virtues" reminded me of a point Larry Wall made in his 2nd State of the Onion talk that has always resonated with me:

> Most of you are familiar with the virtues of a programmer. There are three, of course: laziness, impatience, and hubris.
>
> These are virtues of passion. They are not, however, virtues of community. The virtues of community sound like their opposites: diligence, patience, and humility.

Does anyone have examples of really well-governed, reasonably large FOSS projects? (Ideally languages, but others would be good too.) Or a governance process/mechanism/system that you particularly like?

A few years ago, I would have said #rustlang or #Python. But #rust's RFC process seems to have hit some growing pains and Python's BDFL isn't.

So now I'm not sure who I'd say Gets It Right™. Any suggestions?

I know AIs have gotten better, but some humans don't exactly do our team any favors in the Turing test…

@kev@fosstodon.org
> I'm willing to bet there are millions of fantastic posts, written by people who know what they're talking about. But they're hidden in the depths of the internet because … they haven't "optimised" enough. Fuck search engines.

I don't entirely disagree. But, also, half of my searches seem to lead to blog posts by people I've never heard of who have faced/solved the exact issue I'm having.

But maybe the listicles just haven't come for obscure terminal errors yet :D

As you get older all of the years blur into one: The Year of the Linux Desktop

Yep, it's always The Year of the Linux Desktop, and it's always September

Or, in ISO 8601 format, TYotLD-09-10684

@nolan@mastodon.social I could swear I saw this toot months before I joined Mastodon. Was it quoted in some blog post about Mastodon or a news story or something?
