I'm slightly allergic to Western leftist takes along the lines of "but Magyar, isn't he also bad? I truly hope the Hungarians know what they are doing..." The same people were picking up each and every single Kremlin line about how the Maidan revolution in #Kyiv in 2014 wasn't a revolution but a "coup" by right-wing extremists.
How about you first try to create your leftist paradise somewhere in where you actually live before you start doubting the intellectual capabilities of more than half a continent? I'm convinced that Hungarians know what they are doing. They know that Magyar isn't Jesus (very unlike Tony Blair mania in the UK for example - Central/Eastern Europe has a fair share of cynicism against politicians) and they are not celebrating him but what he stood for in this campaign: an end to Orban's kleptocracy and a prevention of a Russian takeover.
People in England are congratulating me with my English 🥳🥳🥳. They seem to have real difficulties understanding that "Edinburgh" is a legitimate answer to "where are you from?"
Back in Scotland - rapeseed field and North Sea 🙂

@leanderlindahl@social.folkdata.se @SamJac@mastodon.social @Tutanota@mastodon.social I love the idea and installed /e/os on an older pixel 4a for testing. In principle it works great but the key thing that makes a switch tricky for me is that I'm too reliant on my banking apps which do not work.
What a relief! #Hungary
#Durham sunrise earlier today (after a day of absolutely "dreich" weather)

Chestnuts in #Kyiv are starting to get leaves after surviving the harsh winter
The woodland in #NewLanark looked magical today.

Major missile strike on #Kyiv just now with 8 missiles being fired in a relatively short interval. #RussiaIsATerroristState
It's Scottish summer this week. 😎

@pigworker The uni approach is, in addition, to (i) provide you with a 20-page guidance document for how to use the manual drill and (ii) to answer your actual question of "can I do Y with a tiny manual drill?" with "no, and here are several bogus reasons for why you do not want to do Y in the first place"
Functioning public transport is always making me happy. #torino

I'm back to a country without air raid alerts. Which means I suddenly can plan my day again without allowing for the option of having to go to the shelter. #luxury
One of the biggest achievements of #Ukrainians in this ****ing war is that life as a civilian almost feels normal as long as there are no air raids or rocket salvos. Also shows that if Russia was to disappear from this planet tomorrow (or at least from Ukraine) there would be no war here.
Imagine a builder who only has one hammer with a slightly loose head, a screwdriver and a tiny manual drill. That's roughly speaking the equivalent of uni software tools. #academictwitter
I'm old enough to remember how Russians were claiming that most of the cities that they have been bombarding relentlessly for more than 4 years by now are basically Russian cities. #RussiaIsATerroristState (and a lot of useful idiots are still believing that sh**)
Dark signs on the horizon, a large-scale Russian air raid tonight is possible but not yet confirmed. Fingers crossed. Meanwhile I am listening to this beautiful piece

While I'm aware that this piece is quite "popular", I still think/hope that the world could be a better place if people actually were listening to the music.

@gallais@piaille.fr I think if there wasn't an extended box about Palestine I would be tempted to go along with this. And to get things straight: I'm not against that box. But then it's a very conscious decision not to mention other "events".

@MartinEscardo@mathstodon.xyz but is email better or worse than things like zulip and teams? In my experience it's slightly easier to ignore emails for a while because the history is "linear" and it's easier to catch up than in the case where you are faced with several conversations on zulip that have moved on in your absence.

@ScottishGreens@mastodon.scot PS: I know external affairs are largely irrelevant in this election. Apart from maybe a couple of points.
