📲 Cool new updates for the Web Application #Manifest!

• Manifest localization (`name_localized`, …) was the most complex spec text I've written so far. It will now ship in Chrome and Edge 148, with the implementation contributed by the Edge team. (https://developer.chrome.com/blog/manifest-localization)
• Recently, we added the `color_scheme_dark` member to the spec that allows specifying different theme and background colors for the dark color scheme—with support from Chromium and WebKit. (https://github.com/WebKit/WebKit/pull/62443)

Just back from my very first @w3c@w3c.social @tag@w3c.social Face-to-Face in London, and it was so cool!

🌐 It was a packed week covering many topics, including the health of the #web, the impact of #AI, the global download of AI models as an architectural concept, age verification, and more.

🤝 The freshly formed #TAG worked really well together, and I’m excited to help shape the future of the web.

🎉 Thanks to Google for hosting us, and Samsung for hosting the developer meetup.

Wrapped up two fantastic days in London at the International JavaScript Conference, where I had the chance to talk about #WebAI and #WebMCP — two explorations around bringing AI to the browser. Thanks to everyone who came by the session!

I also enjoyed catching up in person with my fellow speakers Brygida Fiejdasz and @ManfredSteyer@mastodon.social, and with my London-based @tag@w3c.social colleagues @lolaodelola@mastodon.social and Matthew Atkinson. 😊

I'm thrilled to share that Google has extended my @googledevexpert@bird.makeup membership for another year! 🎖️ Being a GDE since 2019, it has been an incredible journey contributing to the community in the categories of Web Technologies (AI for Web Developers, Progressive Web Apps, and Project Fugu) and Angular. Let's continue to push the boundaries of the Web together! 🚀 #GDE #WebAI #AI #Angular #PWA #ProjectFugu

Developers in Karlsruhe! Join GDG Karlsruhe on Wed, April 15 at 6:00 PM at Thinktecture for our next meetup! 🚀

We're diving into the future of "Chatless AI" real-time voice interfaces with Sascha Lehmann, followed by a deep dive into 2025's top broken access control security risks (BOLA, BOPLA, BFLA) with Martina Kraus.

Come enjoy great discussions, pizza, and networking with the local community! 🍕🍻

That’s a wrap for Google I/O 2026! Thanks to Google for having me back in Mountain View. I had a few good days connecting with people across the web platform community, there and in San Francisco. This is what Google showed off for the web. 🧵 #GoogleIO

The wait is over! The @httparchive@bird.makeup has officially released the 2025 Web Almanac. I led the new #GenerativeAI chapter. 🚀

It "delves" ;) into the hard data to see how AI is being integrated into the web. We analyzed millions of pages to understand:

➡️ How devs are deploying client-side AI.
➡️ Adoption rates of GenAI SDKs & APIs.
➡️ The usage of llms.txt & robots.txt.
➡️ The impact of AI on web content (🟣 indigo-500, anyone?).

Big thanks to Thinktecture for the space, pizza & beer 🍕🍺 — and to Sascha Lehmann for his talk on real-time AI language interfaces. 💻

I shared what's new in #WebAI: WebNN, Built-in AI, and #WebMCP. 🧠

Thanks to everyone who joined! 🚀

Some more photos from #NGBelgradeConf 2026! Community conferences are always something special for me. It’s the love and care the organizers put into every little detail that makes them what they are. It was wonderful to catch up with Matthieu Riegler, @fabiangosebrink@bird.makeup, and so many more people again. No matter where in the world we travel, our community has a way of making every place feel like home. 😊

Just back from NG Belgrade Conf 2026, the largest Angular conference in the Balkans.

I had a great time presenting on what's new in Web from a standards perspective.

Thanks to Marko Stanimirović and the NG Belgrade team for organizing the conference and for the great guided tour through Belgrade, to my speaker colleagues for the wonderful time, and to all attendees who made the event happen!

"Leaning" into the Future 🗼

Last week, I had the pleasure of speaking at #DevFestPisa 2026. Huge thanks to GDG Pisa for the fantastic organization. Loved delivering "What's New in Web? 2026 Edition" and getting such great feedback on the web platform from the community.

Grazie Pisa! 🇮🇹

The spring conference season is in full swing. Last week, I returned to DevDays Europe in Vilnius, Lithuania. 🇱🇹

I spoke about the two approaches to browser-based AI: Bring Your Own AI (WebNN) and Built-in AI. Thanks to everyone who joined. 😊
