For example, the F-Droid infrastructure requires you to shift your trust toward older systems and significant historical technical debt. As for me, my security model is based on not trusting any middleware. While reproducible builds seem to solve the problem, the adoption rate remains low, and most people do not know how to audit the code. Ultimately, this is a matter of security and trust.

It means I should be able to choose whether or not to show you my information, rather than having a bunch of people flaunting my private data in front of me and causing massive issues for my personal safety. A long time ago, when many IRC clients didn't have privacy mode enabled by default, hardly anyone made a fuss about it.

@ee It's honestly a nightmare for me that I can't import emails. If I've subscribed to a mailing list but want to reply to a message sent before I joined, I have to upgrade my service (pay-to-win, basically). I really feel like a basic feature like this should be free.
