Smol voice: what is "Authenticity" in english prose?
I've been following what some authority said my entire life.
My grammar and readability is less bad than at 18, but I think I am authenticity not great at english.
#engrish. #linguists
"#cyber", "#cybersecurity" to web people, is there a valid use-case for any of:
GET /@fs/ . . .
GET /var/www/ . . .
GET /aws/ . . . .
GET /.aws-credentials/ . . . .
URLs?
I think some JS test tools use /@fs/ (storybook?), but looking at the URLS some bot attempted, that is not for production.
Regression-test: I find it weird that "webdev people" suddenly started talking about #featureFlags in 2015. (or so). Or maybe talking about them were I could hear.
I know there are annual "add this topic as new" lectures/ training events, for people with less experience.
But on this detail, how did I not notice them in 2012-2014 if the feature-flag topic was annual?
Older Linux/ unix tools have been using feature-flags since 1960 or some thing. Vim is a clear example.
security best practice #3453457234: if you use Node as a repl, purge the ~/.node_repl_history
every so often.
And definitely after end-of-project
[In the UK] Why are supermarket vendors printing "not in EU" labels on goods in EN? Surely it should be printed in FR or DE (etc).
Maybe an 'EU' in a slashed circle, and avoid the prose...
So the EU Burgers know they can buy or not (I have no umlaut).
Does anyone know why consumer medical gadgets count paces rather than km?
Healthy and active people should be moving quite a few km/d with no drama or stress.
Quite a few people average at 5k PACES, that is just a few km, nothing much.
Yesterday i managed to simulate a fork() bomb on my self in bash, so I rebooted.
I know have UEFI updates from "unknown vendor".
Previously these have been originating in MSFT, but this doesn't look dodgy does it?
#ubuntu #computersStillConcernMeGreatly #weShouldNotTrustThisDirtySandWithImportantData
Do i really need to make a VM to find out what the update is?
Please can marketing stop publishing product tabular data as an image. it not mobile friendly.
Yes there is a historic no-tables-edict, but that was for layout not tabular data.
Ohne Kontext betrachtet: „Stille Nacht“ ist als Lied und Melodie besser als „Silent Night“.
Moving everything into en-SIMPLE doesn't actually help.
I'm always confused how the US confuses "stats" and "insight".
Classic WWII example (when stats was still a hand-work activity):
stats: returning planes with damage tend to have holes in these areas, X, Y, Z
insight: ....the planes that came back...you overlooked he 20% missing planes
....
I, ... am very curious to know the process by which VScode translates "Std" into "stupid".
Note lower case 'S'. This codebase only uses the token "stupid" in one comment, not related to current typing.
if [MSFT owned] VScode is reading my *chat* service logs, they are breaking a lot of expectations.
MSword has much better guess algorithms, and I think is owned by MSFT.
Its a shame the European Alternatives account seems unfunded / closed / they fired that intern.
#random could someone explain to me why marketing people think that a video of some guy holding a piece of clothing is better than a static image? I don't find random middle aged people with beards that exciting.
For a 10s clip, 40% of the time wasn't focused on the clothing for sale. It was a static cam, maybe a phone.
This "solution" feels like #WAP.
Modern linux: I installed a text editor
(via snap)
It complains it can't do stuff in the firmware and doesn't finish loading.
...
sorry what?
This isn't ms-DOS. Why would a user-land text editor need to do anything to the firmware?
there is now more
EDIT: TIL, I think that using shutdown -r now doesn't count for rebooting in modern ubuntu. #leSigh.
It thought i hadn't rebooted in over a year, as i didn't use a GUI button, or an actual power button to reboot.
