Just to note this for the record: if I could: I would un-invent LLMs.

There's some amazing things possible with them (and to be clear I use them every day), but like many technologies they acts as an accelerator for good *and* bad things - and some of the latter are quite bad indeed.

But obviously we can't uninvent them and banning is not practical. So now it's about best practices, some of which should become regulations.

So many great discussions at All Systems Go! Having a really good time and wishing I'd gone in prior years. Looking forward to day 2!

I know this has already gone around a lot on social media but I completely agree with https://fly.io/blog/youre-all-nuts/
I only dug into agentic AI coding assistance relatively recently (currently using https://block.github.io/goose/) and am starting to fine tune and it can do some astounding things. I am now joining those folks wondering what the heck things are going to be like in two years if things proceed at this pace.

Going to try hard to start blogging more, here's one https://blog.verbum.org/2024/10/22/why-bootc-doesnt-require-usr-merge/

Why bootc doesn’t require “/usr merge”

Why bootc doesn’t require “/usr merge”

The systemd docs talk about UsrMerge, and while bootc works nicely with this, it does not require it and never will. In this blog we’ll touch on the rationale for that a bit. The first stumbling bl…

In a conversation today, Unix signals came up and I have to say, https://github.com/vorner/signal-hook/ is just beautiful, excellent code.

Replying to
@monk@social.unboiled.info I have seen some effort in models to track origin info, and for the record I obviously disagree with that part of the blog author's flippant response to copyright infringement.

I have to point out the benchmarks in this patch successfully check that the redundant cycles are removed in the cyclic redundancy check:

Replying to
@bexelbie "The sharpest question the data raises isn’t statistical. It’s social." I'm so sure that's not your voice, it's an LLMs. https://rfd.shared.oxide.computer/rfd/0576#_llms_as_writers And yes, when I read it it gave me exactly that feeling about wondering how much of the rest of the article you actually looked at at all.

@fwilhe@social.tchncs.de Nice to meet you as well! Happy to hear what you think of bootc.

I definitely bumped up more decent systemd-boot support in ostree in my queue after all this...
