@MamaLake avid reader in elementary school. The local youth library was open on Wednesdays and Fridays with a maximum number of items that you could have on loan at the same time. I think it was 5,or maybe just 3. Weekends were murder because on Sunday afternoon I would be out of books and would have to wait until Wednesday again.

@mahryekuh@hachyderm.io I don't do Instagram but my YouTube timeline has a lot of woodworking folk, some of them with hand tools and old craftsmanship and it fills me with joy and awe. Haven't taken the step to that skill set yet, just learning power tools and furniture making (Festool routing masterclass in Dalfsen tomorrow).

Ik ben volstrekt en voorgoed overtuigd van de verkieslijkheid van mijn begrensde eigen denken. Ten volste bereid om allerhande boten in de toekomst te missen, ik zal me wel redden. Er is wel ergens een boterham te verdienen zonder deze brol en er zijn nog vele klassieke boeken ongelezen en cantates ongezongen (AI vrij!) dus ik zing dit bestaan wel uit.

@ionica ik ben er ook wel VOOR ja, dus sta er wel achter. Met al die uiterst rechtse partijen en extreemrechtse fascistoïden hebben we al genoeg mensen die alleen maar contra zijn.

@revspace late 90's, I had expressed interest in a phone company service for international calls as one of my sisters was going to Africa for a couple of months. I then declined their service and moved on. A week later, my phone rang with an automated message that didn't even identify as such so it took me a couple of seconds to realise a computer was calling me. I found that experience hugely insulting and still despise automated responses and chat bots. 100/100 will take fallible humans.

@minego @jocafa @nyquildotorg there is such a vast difference between 'Let's use the LLM service Mr X to see what a answer to this question might look like' and 'Ooh, I know: let's just ask Mr X!'. Sounding relieved as if a buddy is willing to do your chores for you or let you copy their homework.
