I've written about Trumpanzees before, and recently I've noticed a shift in how liberals (like myself) view the path forward after this national nightmare ends. Lots of people on the left seem to think we can just move on and forgive these people (or welcome them back to reality if they finally wake up to what this administration is doing not only to democracy but also to moral accountability). I'm going on record that I don't think these people (3x Trump voters) should ever be forgiven. Ever. They should be shunned forever and investigated as traitors to the US. If they willingly and knowingly participated in the destruction of American ideals or norms, they should be imprisoned and re-educated before they are allowed back into society. These people have done irreparable harm to the US (Education, Labor, Health & Human Services, Immigration, among other departments). It is going to take DECADES of work to repair what this administration and Project 2025 have done to this nation. The first step is to root out all the racists and misogynists who hold positions in the federal government. They should absolutely have to answer for their crimes (people like Donald J. Trump, JD Vance, Pam Bondi, Scott Bessent, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Kristi Noem, Howard Lutnick, Sean Duffy, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, Doug Burgum, Chris Wright, Doug Collins, Tulsi Gabbard, Peter Hegseth, Stephen Miller, and Mark Rubio), first by being investigated and if found guilty of any crimes, imprisoned for 25 to life hard labor in Leavenworth. There HAS to be accountability, not forgiveness, if this country is to survive. Media outlets like FOX and CBS should have their broadcast licenses revoked, and the owners/board should all be investigated and punished if they spread false information or propaganda. I cannot imagine the #USWBC team getting past the #DRWBC team. The Dominican Republic team is stacked offensively, and their only weakness may be in the starting pitching. The US, on the other hand, matches well with them offensively, but they struggled against teams with inferior pitching (inferior in comparison to the US team). The problem is that if the US doesn't score early and often, it may end up a victim of the mercy rule. #WBC #MLB #Baseball
I went on record earlier this #MLB season with my disdain for the #Padres front office making a HUGE mistake choosing Craig Stammen as their new manager this past off-season. He was an average relief pitcher, and I couldn't see any way he could become a great manager, considering he has ZERO managerial experience. That disdain grew just a little more today when I saw that he had penciled #goldglove outfielder Fernado Tatis Jr into the second base slot. Fernando, as athletic as he is, has only played 1 inning at second base. One. And the reason? To get Nick Castellanos and his .214 batting average (with zero home runs) into the lineup. Jake Cronenworth will sit tonight, taking his .163 batting average and 1 HR out of the lineup. Stammen will either be proven a genius or a complete tool by 10 pm Pacific.

@jeremydebose@mstdn.social Valid.. but again... it isn't a competitive pursuit... it is purely scripted entertainment unlike EVERY OTHER SINGLE EVENT on the channel. Heck, even the lumberjack competitions or car racing, which I would argue against inclusion as a sport, are competitive.
The first time I saw Nine Inch Nails in concert was 35 years ago, back in 1991 with my college crew. They played as part of Lollapalooza along with Jane's Addiction, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Living Colour, Ice-T & Body Count, Butthole Surfers, Rollins Band, and Fishbone. On March 9, 2026 I saw them again at the Pechanga Arena (formerly the San Diego Sports Arena) to support their new album, TRON: Ares (though they only played ONE song from that album for some reason). Pretty good show, wore ear plugs to protect my 60 year old ears.

Over the last year I have tried to put my money where my conscience is... by that I mean that I have figured out alternatives to popular, but problematic services like Spotify, Paramount+, Disney+, ESPN, etc... I still haven't found a decent alternative to Amazon but I am actively looking. The one that I often hear people say is the hardest to replace is Spotify premium, especially for folks who have had their accounts for a long time and have lots of custom playlists. This was the reason why I hesitated for so long, but I figured out that iOS has a way to transfer your custom playlists to Apple music (which I get free through my Apple One account). Super simple... Settings > Apps > Music > Transfer Music from Other Services > select the source service > transfer

I recently ended a contract to write copy for a large pediatric research network (ended is probably not accurate... the current government administration gutted funding), and though I have other clients, I wanted to see what other writing jobs were out there. I started with #LinkedIn and was really disappointed by the 3.3% application-to-interview rate on that platform. I can't say I have ever really used it for networking, but I can tell you that only 3.3% rate of job seekers submitting a resume/application on that platform resulting in an interview is REALLY, REALLY bad. Why does ESPN cover #prowrestling like it is a sport? It isn't. It is as much a sport as The Housewives of Beverly Hills is reality TV. Both are scripted. Not to say the performers aren't athletic; it's just not a sport because the outcome of the match is ALWAYS predetermined. There is a show on #Netflix called, "Sanctuary: A Witches Tale" about a witch and her daughter living in a small English town called Sanctuary. In the world they created, witches and magic are an accepted part of life. The "tale" is a popular teen athlete with bright prospects dies suddenly of an apparent fall while at a party. Eventually, they blame the daughter of the #witch, claiming she is responsible for casting a spell that caused the accident that took his life. It's an interesting show, but suffers from the "Three's Company" syndrome in which every problem could have been solved in 3 minutes by clearing up some misunderstanding. The entire show would only be 3 minutes long instead of 7 one-hour long episodes if the daughter had revealed the real story behind her relationship with the popular boy... or if the witch had explained she had no previous knowledge of what her daughter had been through... or if the boy who had a crush on the popular boy had told the truth about what he saw and what he knew. I can usually forgive just about anything in a fantasy-based tv show except that... "Three's Company" was a shitty show with a really poor baseline conceit that drove every episode... in a comedy, that type of scenario works because it is so absurd... but when you are world-building, such lazy writing is really off-putting. I give the show a 3 out of 10 for that failure.

@dorowski@mastodon.social The season journey is just a way to prolong the life of the game. New items, new functions, new quests, new (borrowed) power to improve your favorite class builds. I say borrowed because any "new" aspect introduced in the season (for instance, the next season will be that you can turn into a popular villain in the diablo universe, The Butcher), does not carry over once the season ends and those characters you created for the season get shifted to the "eternal" realm. The enternal realm is just where non season characters that do not get to participate in seasonal activities because the eternal realm doesn't get "seasons." The reliquaries are just rewards you get for completing seasonal goals. The rewards rare usually cosmetics (pets, mounts, unique armor designs and unique weapon designs... none of the rewards bestow player power... you don't do more damage, or increase survivability, you just get to look cooler as you stand in town waiting for something to happen).

@arstechnica@mastodon.social The real danger is in chatbots needing to share data with the advertisers... lets say you want to ask a chatbot about how insurance works, the chatbot serves the relevant ad, then harvests that users information and sells it to google or another ad based service and from then on you are on a list sold to marketers about your search for insurance... its diabolical regardless of the topic... imagine if you are a young girl asking a chatbot about family planning options including abortions... can you imagine being served up an ad for any related topic? Pregnancy test kits? Religious groups? Clinic ads? This crazy that ChatGPT management thinks this is ok.

And the money thing is clearly the motivation (though I disagree with e-sports not being sports as it requires three things all sports require... competition, skill, and hand/eye coordination).
