I was missing some transport bolts for the washing machine, so I installed Linux in it.

@rauschma@fosstodon.org set -o pipefail then if my-script returns non-zero there is an error thrown.

Me: leaves headphones on sofa
Dog: grabs headphones and chews them
Me: gets angry at dog
7yo: why are you angry?
Me: because these are expensive
7yo: well I have a lot of money in my piggy bank, you can take some from there to buy a new pair and give it me back later
Me: ... 😭

This is an extremely important talk. If you've been in tech for years, it might make your eyes wet, if you're just coming in, it might shape how you think. And if you're not in tech, it will show, clearer than I've seen before, how you should think about tech to stay healthy.

Getting irritated seeing articles that are just "I don't see the point of X, therefore there is no point, people are stupid".

Feels the same as every sweeping statement post "X worked perfectly for my project, therefore it is perfect for every project, people who don't do X are stupid".

I'd love to be able to help these people expand their world view, so they can see why other things exist.
