It's normal to have a favorite index entry, right? #index

mastodon 4.7.2Likely 95% terrier or dog-related content with occasional squeaks that my better angels can't suppress. So basically the good parts of a terrier, plus the other parts. Header image is a photo of three Cairn Terriers, father, daughter, granddaughter. Life is merrier with a Cairn Terrier.

@judlew@journa.host Almost 40 years on it still delights me. When I was indexing technical manuals that entry served as a sort of holy grail — long sought, never achieved.

I could not get my phone out of my pocket fast enough to take a photo of this heron standing at the waters edge, so close I could nearly touch it, but I still enjoy this image of it taking flight. The deep low-frequency whoosh created by its sizable wingspan had a startling intensity.

@simonzerafa@infosec.exchange Recursion seems an easy reach, tbh, although appreciated. Symmetric poetry though ... that's art. (Opinions vary, obvs.) @JohnDA@social.vivaldi.net

@galand2dogs@mastodon.world I defer to others on that. I haven't checked each of the subsequent 40+ editions to see if/how that particular entry has evolved. I did hear that it is no longer beautiful.
