There's a survey about Digital Commons/Open Source by @NGICommons@eupolicy.social which will be presented to the European Commission, so they can better understand the needs of those types of projects. The survey mostly targets people that contribute to such projects, and has a main focus on technical/programmer questions (Even though people that add content to wikis or OpenStreetMap are contributors too). -There's questions about your technical background -What licenses (Apache, GPL, CC0) and organizational structures are appropriate -What the current state of financing is and how the EU could contribute -What technologies should be prioritized and what amendments to law could be made -What is the role of telecommunication providers in Digital Commons/Open Source It takes 20-30mins. Brief intro - https://commons.ngi.eu/2026/02/10/survey-on-digital-commons-building-blocks-for-the-open-internet-stack/ The survey itself: https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/3b611754-9e75-ae52-1115-b6ef918f2fa7#page0

@laura@mastodon.laurakalbag.com Looks interesting, not to mention the plethora of other books on the website as well 🔥

@evacide@hachyderm.io I've found Surveillance Self Defense and Opt-out October (alongside other assorted articles on EFF) very useful and reference them constantly. I would certainly appreciate additional similar stuff.

@Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net Interesting, I am trying something similar, by showing people how to use uBlock and set slightly more reasonable privacy options in the apps they use. But yes, we need more tech literacy and resources to help people.
