Ugh… My Lyft driver this morning was exhausting. I’m writing this down because I need to brain dump so I will stop thinking about it. I got in the car. He said, “Welcome aboard.” I’m thinking what the fuck? It’s a Buick not a 737. I take the high road and just say thanks. He says, “My wife would like to carry one of those things to hit me with.” Me, “What?” HIm, “That thing you’re carrying. My wife would like to hit me with it. Me,”You mean my cane?” Him, “Yeah.” Him, “Why are you carrying that anyway?” Do you have back problems?” Me, “Um, I’m blind. It’s a long white cane.” Him, “Your Blind?!?!?! That’s worse than being deaf.” Me, “ they each have their challenges. It’s not a contest.” Him, “Deaf is definitely worse. I had a deaf girlfriend. She communicated really well once you got used to her funny accent.” Me, mentally high-fiving the deaf ex-girlfriend for getting away from this creep. Fortunately, the conversation veered away from disability but OMG. What the fuck, dude? So that happened and now I’m annoyed at everything, especially my bra. Hoefully the day gets better from here. And before all the mansplainers tell me I should wear headphones so drivers don’t talk to me, just don’t. I’m not in the mood to explain to you why that doesn’t feel safe to me. Just ranting here. No advice wanted.
