🌌 #SpaceX's 2nd gen Starlink satellites are leaking up to 32 times more unintended radio waves than the 1st gen, potentially blinding telescopes like LOFAR and jeopardizing our understanding of the Universe!
🚀 Exciting times for the LOFAR telescope as we officially transition from LOFAR1 to LOFAR2.0! After over a decade of groundbreaking research and more than 750 published scientific papers, we're gearing up for an amazing upgrade that will significantly enhance our data capabilities. In the article below we look back at what LOFAR1 has achieved during its 12-year run. And we look forward to what the future holds for LOFAR! 🌌#Astronomy #Research #Innovation #Telescope

ASTRON/JIVE strives to be an organisation in which everyone can be themselves. We try to be a welcoming environment for the LGBTQIA+ community; we unequivocally support the right of everyone to openly express their sexual orientation or gender identity. #ComingOutDay
We're very proud to have received such high grades from the Strategy Evaluation Protocol (SEP) committee!

Many ASTRON researchers make use of hashtag#AstroPy and some have also contributed to its development. In our opinion this is a well-deserved award to all those around the world who have contributed to this collection of software packages written in the Python programming language, which is so important to the international astronomical society. Congratulations! 🎉

🏳️🌈 Today is International Day of LGBTQIA+ People in STEM. We celebrate and recognize the contributions, challenges, and aspirations of individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community who are making strides in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and we strive to be an inclusive organization with a working environment in which everyone feels safe, heard, and understood. 🔭🧪👩🔬👨💻🌈
🌌 Radio signals from stars reveal magnetic storms & "space weather" on exoplanets! 🌠 These signals help us study solar bursts, auroras, and magnetic star-planet interactions.

#WvdW24
