@jani@floss.social yeah it's what I've been fearing, it's willingly giving away the means of production to a corporation in another country. it's also not being able to code unless you have a decent always on internet connection. it's already the case for a lot of people, but your coding should be able to be done on a disconnected laptop

@kwramm yes please, kill that demon. why do we use the worst app of each thing ? the worst chat with teams, the worst email with outlook, the worst git website with GitHub. at least we're not forced to use vscode. it's not like these are any good either. they're slow and heavy, and break constantly, even on a recent laptop. and they all have AI of course. all these have alternatives that are more reliable, lighter, and either foss or European

@Vordus@chitter.xyz ah i really don't like when people use a lot of shorthand, i struggle with it a lot. like "ngl" or "imo" regularly my partner will say something like "oh and the FDT talked with the ZBS to figure out the RGX on the PAQ" and he looks at me like i'm supposed to know what any of those mean it's fine if you want to use shorthand to go faster, but at least define each one you use with everyone new you talk to, don't assume everyone already knows

Hey, i want to share a gofundme that's really close to my heart.

It's for a trans mom who got unjustly fired from her job in healthcare for speaking out against a greedy decision taken by her employer, and standing by us, the patients being put at risk. We saw it happen live.

She's very likely to be deported back to the US, and lose access to her child here in Europe.

@cwebber@social.coop it wouldn't make it reasonable, but maybe it's a different budget ? like there's a AI budget that's not allowed to be used for salaries ? I've seen kinda stupid decisions born from "we ran out of money in this budget, but there's money in that other budget, let's use that instead". of course the higher ups are convinced the AI budget will lead to more productivity than the equivalent salary budget, which I've not seen anywhere
