Avi Lewis’s victory speech is 🔥 It’s everything everyone has wanted (except for the 1%ers who just want more, always more).
I want to feel this kind of hope. I want it to be real. He’s right when he says there are more of us than there are of them. Let’s stop tearing each other apart, get united, and tear them apart instead. #canpoli #ndp #Canada
Final day at Hillside. Fav band so far today is the Estonian girl band shishi with Montreal’s Bye Purula a close second. Waiting for Cowboy Junkies followed by Angine de Poitrine. There is already an influx of polka-dotted patrons filling the audience.
Here’s a pic of us happy to have found a bit of shade!

I have the house to myself for the next couple of days. A rare opportunity for me to procrastinate without any excuses.
Today’s Hillside was cut short for us. My back couldn’t take it and I needed to get home and lie down. But while we were there we enjoyed the Estonian band Puuluup. We are sad that so many of the bands we’re interested in don’t have cds available in the merch shop. Seems records are the preferred physical medium. #HillsideMusicFestival #guelph #ontario #canada #music
The ford conservative government in Ontario has been dismantling bike lanes across the province and preventing new ones from being built. I wonder if he’s been making deals with self driving car companies.
D will be subjected to this tea party when he gets off of work… and he’ll fkn love it because he’s always up for feeling fancy!
After being lost in some delivery truck somewhere, The Dandy Warhols’ Welcome to the Monkey House has finally arrived and I am currently playing it loudly, no doubt annoying the neighbours.
At Hillside for the first time. Just saw The Darcys and they were amazing. Incredible vocals and stage presence. Can’t believe they aren’t superstars. Or are they? I know nothing about the current music scene. Super excited about Mae Martin’s set at 8 and I think The Darcys will do a song with them. I have a huge crush on Mae Martin so this is a special treat!

Every writing group I’ve ever encountered is filled with these good-natured, pleasant people.
It’s pretty hot outside. it feels like sweat.

I imagine there will be a lot of pressure to move to the “centre” to pick up undecideds. A losing move, if you ask me. Just look at Mulcair. We already have two conservative parties. We don’t need another one.
Why is the prevailing argument against ICE imprisoning brown people “but who will cut my lawn”?
Yesterday, we went to The Beat Goes On to their 30% off sale where I got a used copy of Criterion’s remaster of Spartacus. We watched it yesterday and it was excellent. Today, I’m watching some of the many extras that came with it. There is a film about The Hollywood Ten including interviews with the men that were imprisoned (one being the screenwriter of Spartacus) and footage of the McCarthy hearings. Timely.
With maga american catholics turning on the pope, I wonder if they will split from the church and form an american-centric version of catholicism.
They’d write a new bible “translation” that contains fewer commandments and a sermon on the mount written by Tarantino. Probably a picture book filled with memes. Gilded pages to make it classy.
All their churches would be half-built ballrooms and boarded up casinos.
Of course we already know who their pope would be.
Wait. Some people have to pay to use a library??

@f00fc7c8@kind.social @garry@mstdn.social I remember those early days circa 2006. Had no idea they were all still running (with the exception of Diaspora which I still get notifications for) until I joined Mastodon a couple of weeks ago. Mid 2000s were such hopeful times! Dare we hope again?

@9to5Mac@mastodon.online Dammit. Every time I try to get off it, new stuff I want comes out. It’s a conspiracy.
I love the aquabus! When I lived in Vancouver, I lived near False Creek and took it all the time. I see Toronto is trying something similar out (finally!) but they’re charging something like $15 per trip which is ludicrous.
I did it again. I bought the wrong “Crash” movie.

@mikepmoffatt also, inter generational housing as costs skyrocket and the nuclear family arrangement becomes increasingly untenable.
We play https://www.thewikigamedaily.com every day and compare paths. For those who haven’t tried it yet, the goal is to make it from one wiki page to another page via links, taking as few as possible. The most interesting part is seeing how others make their connections. But I can’t help thinking that some corporation somewhere is mapping our brains because this is where we are now.
