@stdevel@chaos.social I found https://blog.jgc.org/2023/12/restoration-of-ibm-thinkpad-701c.html and https://blog.jgc.org/2023/11/why-is-internet-so-popular-according-to.html and https://blog.jgc.org/2024/01/my-daily-driver-is-older-than-i-thought.html and thought "This is something for Christian!"

@mipsytipsy@hachyderm.io Somewhere I was reading you are working on the 2nd edition of Observability Engineering - https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/observability-engineering/9781492076438/
I wonder if you already have a shipping date for this, and what the new content would be (the topic is developing fast).
I plan to buy the book and consider whether to wait. Any guidance?
@Tronde@social.anoxinon.de @engkiosk@podcasts.social Ja das is wirklich so einfach.
@squidfunk@fosstodon.org I saw the recent announcement about Zensical. Kudos!

Pretty interesting and way more than I expected.
TIL: `$$` is a shorthand for "Gimme the current process ID in bash.
Where would you use it? E.g. if you want to update a file automatically
echo $(date +%s) > ./my_batch_job.prom.$$
mv ./my_batch_job.prom.$$ ./my_batch_job.prom
Amazon S3 itself has over 300 microservices 🤯
If you deal with MySQL and backup your database with mysqldump (you create a backup, right? ... right?!), read through https://blog.koehntopp.info/2023/01/03/mysql-ways-to-run-mysqldump.html by @isotopp@chaos.social
Excellent content regarding what options and arguments to apply to your standard / regular mysqldump command.
