Another day of me being mad at OpenTelemetry for stupid stupid decisions.
I am unsure my teammate and manager appreciate that I sort of abdicated anything resembling technical leadership on this project to the teammate. In my defense, said teammate seemed to have made a bunch of decisions about how it should go and they want to do it while I was exploring possibilities, so sure man. You can have and own those decisions and responsibilities since you seem to want them.

You might say "Jon that's pretty selfish that you didn't get radicalized until it might impact YOUR job and life" and like yeah, you might be right. But hey at least I got there? It's hard to be truly mad at things in an abstract, and admittedly my radicalization had been building but the past...6 months was just a breaking point.
to clarify: always thought capitalism was bullshit and exploitative, just hadn't quite hit "burn it to the ground" levels until recently.

@mercutio@hachyderm.io couldn’t say! Beavers are cute but it’s a game very built on intrinsic motivation: do you want to keep making settlements bigger and automated? If the answer is yes, you’d probably enjoy it. If the answer is no, like me, ehhhh probably not.

@aphyr custom emoji and gifs, I can mute all the servers I don’t care about and pretend they don’t exist except when I need to be there, I like the reply feature as well as threads being different (vs slack for example), infinite scroll back as someone else mentioned, voice chat built in…
But I only like it for friend group chats with channels for different topics (usually different games). I do not like big servers or “documentation” servers. Those suck ass and it’s Too Much.

@Irenetherogue yeah. I haven’t unpacked my coffee machine yet so went to buy coffee. Left a $10 cash tip at least. Doing minimal work to hit a deadline for this week and nothing else. It’s kinda what I’ve got atm.
