Very excited to have a new Oxford-set timeslip #novel coming out in summer 2026! This is the first in a new two-book deal with my publishers Bookouture. Here's the book deal announcement: https://bookouture.com/bookouture-acquires-more-novels-from-alexander-mercer-and-o-shea/ Cover design and more to follow! #fiction #author
‘the lapsing, unsoilable, whispering sea’… which is the last line of an Oliver St John Gogarty poem in The Oxford Book of Twentieth Century Verse, an anthology that my aunt gave me for my 16th birthday (cover tattered now.) Anyway, it came back to me on the beach in Kent with my son at the weekend.

One of my favourite parts of being a #writer - holding a new #book for the first time! (Along with typing The End at the end of a first draft and hearing from #readers that my #books have touched them in some way.) My new #novel #AChildsGoodbye is out in #Kindle, #Audible #audiobook and #paperback on 28 March, and it's here on Amazon https://geni.us/B0BQ7P48B1cover if you'd like to preorder - you can also order the paperback from all good bookshops. #bookstodon #fiction #reading #author #alimercer
hello! have been quiet on here and elsewhere lately, but anyway, here to say that my latest #book is 99p in the #Kindle daily deal today, if that sounds like anyone's cup of tea - here's where you can get it: https://geni.us/B0BQ7P48B1social - it starts with single mum Callie rushing to pick up son Billy from school - but she doesn't make it - who will take care of him if she can't? Family drama mystery with settings inspired by my hometown of #Abingdon near #Oxford... #bookstodon #fiction
It was #publication day for my eighth #novel #AChildsGoodbye yesterday and look! I matched my cardigan to my #book cover! (Semi-intentionally.) The plant was a #publicationday gift from my #publishers #Bookouture. The card with my #bookcover on was from my OH. Pic taken by my daughter!
Here's A Child's Goodbye on Amazon (out now in #Kindle, #Audible #audiobook and #paperback): https://geni.us/B0BQ7P48B1social

big moment for me - my new #novel #AChildsGoodbye, out from #Bookouture on March 28, is now on #NetGalley! http://netgal.ly/rBsJMc
It's a strange (and wonderful) feeling to have something that's been sitting in notebooks and on my computer, suddenly out there being read. (It's also nerve-racking waiting for early #reviews! Though one of the most brilliant and startling things about being a #writer is when you hear from #readers that they've enjoyed your #book.)
Muddy walk therapy! My son has been off school sick for a while so it was good to get out and get some fresh air. The Thames at Abingdon was looking high... definitely welly weather. Always good to walk by water. I love the sound of the river rushing through the weir at Abingdon Lock.

my #autistic son out in #nature. We meant to go for a #halfterm #walk to the excellently-named Parsonage Moor (a place my son thinks may no longer exist because it is not named on Google Maps), but the footpath was closed so we went to Dry Sandford Pit instead (near Cothill Fen, a quirk of #Oxfordshire geology - once a tropical sea)
The #bookcovers for my six #bookouture #books, all lined up in a row! They are emotional family dramas with secrets and lies from the past revealed in the present. All in #KindleUnlimited. The first, Lost Daughter, came out in 2019. His Secret Family was an Amazon Charts most-sold #fiction #bestseller in February 2020. A Child's Goodbye is out end of March in #audible #audiobook, #Kindle and #paperback: https://geni.us/B0BQ7P48B1cover
due back from the proofreader soon! #bookstodon #writer #writerslife
@BryanLastRedDrop@toot.community thank you! 😊
me #editing! (If my hair looks a bit less than perfectly soigne, it's cos editing involves a certain amount of tearing your hair out, or at least fiddling with it while you ponder.)
V pleased my latest #novel #AChildsGoodbye is in the Amazon UK #Kindle top 100 this morning. It's just 99p/99c at the mo: https://geni.us/B0BQ7P48B1social and is a big lush #weepie emotional drama #story of love and family and secrets - made my #editor cry! #book #bookstodon #fiction #writer #writerslife #author #alimercer
