This has the same vibe as a "database" at work:
User: "I need help with my database. It's slow."
IT: "You have a database?! Why haven't I heard about it before? Who set it up for you?!"
User: "Uh, I just built it!" [proudly points at Excel]
IT: [jaw drops at the 15 sheet, 20 column, 50k row per sheet, formula calculations to death monstrosity]

I once worked somewhere where the accounting General Ledger was stored in Excel on a file server. I left that dumpster fire shortly afterwards.
