From monitoring epidemic outbreaks to flood impact, this Story Map shows the#GIS support to MSF projects in 2025. Maps and dashboards were crucial for decision-making and risk management. ℹ️ Severe flooding in Mozambique has affected more than 500,000 people following heavy rains in the first weeks of the year, according to United Nations OCHA. The situation continues to worsen as Cyclone Gezani impacts parts of the country, particularly Sofala and Inhambane provinces, with 4 fatalities reported so far.

🗺️ New Missing Maps blogpost!

ℹ️ Remote mapping and local knowledge came together in Kulob, Tajikistan to fill critical neighbourhood-level data gaps for an @doctorswithoutborders tuberculosis project.

Through remote sessions and hand-drawn maps, MSF teams helped turn local knowledge into neighbourhood boundaries that had never been mapped before.

Another mapping campaign completed!

This campaign in Mangochi district, Malawi, was set up in response to a cholera outbreak in the area. Your contributions support @doctorswithoutborders and other humanitarian organizations in their response -including treatment activities, community outreach on water and hygiene and epidemiological surveillance.

#HeiGIT introduced a new global satellite dataset for humanitarian routing and monitoring. 🎉

The dataset makes it possible to distinguish between paved and unpaved roads worldwide with unprecedented consistency. It enables more accurate routing, accessibility mapping, and infrastructure monitoring - especially in areas with limited ground data.

The dataset is openly available via the Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX).
