The gentle klingon

Started up my elementaryOS laptop and I see a progress bar. Is it installing updates? Is it running a disk check? No idea. Just a % to show me its progress towards whatever it is doing. At 100% it says it finished "installing updates". Oh, okay, good to know that's what it was doing all along. Good to take the guesswork out of these things, you know? Anyway, then I get to the login screen. I put in my password and hit enter. Now I'm at the desktop. No UI. Just the wallpaper and mouse cursor.

@woodooprod@c.im Yeah I tried it many years ago and did not like it at that time. However, recently I was pleasantly surprised to find it has improved a lot. Then this happened.

@titania@retro.pizza yup. "it's _open_ and it's _source_ and ANYONE can join the community and start contributing"

@titania@retro.pizza this is a post about Linux ™️

@titania@retro.pizza lmao sounded a bit extreme at first glance but you know what now that I think about it... yep, pretty much spot on 😄

@titania@retro.pizza this is giving me anxiety now lol (half-serious, half-joking) but yeah, that's absolutely on point, it's such an odd assumption to think anyone can "just do" something that one has spent years learning the ins and outs of.

@bright_helpings@mspsocial.net @titania@retro.pizza that's a great analogy!

@titania@retro.pizza funny you mention Matrix

@titania@retro.pizza haha yeah that one lands somewhat softer, and also hopefully less dire consequences if it goes wrong 😅

@bright_helpings@mspsocial.net @titania@retro.pizza got to frame this one :BlobCat_ChefsKiss:

@titania@retro.pizza lmfao jeez, of course you got that reply. it's mastodon. i keep forgetting. 🤦

@titania@retro.pizza (cause it's about *feelings* and not like, taking it literally... sorry just realized how odd that reference might be now that I got it out of my head and into words on a screen that i can read back to myself lol 😅 )

@titania@retro.pizza i can hear yoda's voice telling luke to "FEEL the force flowing around you" lmao

@liztai Beautiful 😍

@Shrigglepuss@godforsaken.website @Mabande@mastodon.social @toni@zug.network 🤣 🤣
