@postmarketOS@social.treehouse.systems I noticed this when I updated early this morning, nice work, looks great!

@codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org @postmarketOS@social.treehouse.systems Yes, that's it! Duranium is the immutable version of postmarketOS.

@codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org Another option is to get one of these and plug it into the external HDMI: https://www.amazon.com/Headless-Display-Emulator-Headless-1920x1080-Generation/dp/B06XT1Z9TF?th=1

@killyourfm@layer8.space I've been following Mike's work and successfully got something similar going here in Utah. I'm not at comparable numbers yet, but I was able to giveaway 4 laptops last month and 1 this month so far. I have a pickup of 15ish Chromebooks slated for sometime this week though, which will have my distro, voidbook (inspired heavily by nixbook) thrown on them. Only real difference is my distro targets low-storage chromebooks.

@codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org It was a fun one to hold! I really like what they did here.

@agx I think vosk would be a great way to go and was something I was thinking about some months ago. I'll give this MR a test on my device, thanks!

@codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org My guess is the firmware does a check for the display and requires it to be present for it to post. Possibly you could just put a fake cable in? I do not know fully how it gets detected, so perhaps there's a board in the panel, you might need that and just store it inside the chromebook. I'd be curious to know if this is adjustable if you were to custom build Mr Chromebox, or if this is a limitation even farther down the line.

@codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org For now I think I'll go with Debian 13 though, I think that is a good route to go with these.

@codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org My only concern with that would be major updates (if you're not already handling that in some way)

@codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org Cool! I was recently donated a (x86_64) HP 14 G4, which I'm still deciding what to do with since it only has 16GB of storage. I'm leaning towards building my own images of openfyde and hosting my own OTA server currently.

@killyourfm@layer8.space Thanks so much for doing this interview, I'm excited to announce I'm giving away my first nixbook on Thursday!

@martijnbraam Mine accounts for daylight in the US but it requires an active connection to OnStar's servers. Once I removed the fuse for OnStar so it can't talk out, it stopped automatically changing lol.

@codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org Yeah, that is true, that seems reasonable to me. Thanks for sharing, I'll see what route I end up going. I'm also considering making a desktop/laptop version of my distro from scratch (currently just for virtualization, but very small base), and just include xfce as a DE and flatpak. It's immutable using BTRFS snapshots and is likely feasible here.

@codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org This is very cool! If I get a veyron Chromebook, I'll attempt to get it running on voidbook!

@codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org Lol duhh yeah you were talking about with it plugged in... I'm not sure I've seen it behave quite like that, usually any display works. Maybe your TV somehow takes too long to initalize?

@codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org It's likely just a packed exe that you could dump and probably get a rawish disk image from if I were to guess
