@mattblaze@federate.social @Manigarm@mastodon.social And photography was once (and sometimes still) thought of as not art, since the camera did all the work. AI is a medium, just like oil paint, bronze sculpture, photography, and many, many more.

@c_9@mstdn.ca @kona@social.ridetrans.it In Manhattan, the traffic lights on the avenues (long, north-south streets) are synchronized to be green pretty much continuously for cars driving at the limit. In fact, when they lowered the city speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph (apologies for the units, but that's what the signs say), they had to retime the lights.

@mattblaze@federate.social @jameeljaffer@mastodon.social Require in-state ISPs to block access to the servers?

@adamshostack@infosec.exchange @xgranade@wandering.shop As I read this, a large rsync is running to back up my photo archive—and there are a lot of files to back up, because the latest Lightroom upgrade apparently touched O(ℵ₀) files: “new catalog format”…

@adamshostack@infosec.exchange @xgranade@wandering.shop The rsync is mine, not Lightroom’s…

@afx@infosec.exchange @adamshostack@infosec.exchange @xgranade@wandering.shop Last time I looked, Capture One didn't support some features I rely on, such as merging a GPS track with the .DNG files. I should check it out again, though.

@afx@infosec.exchange @adamshostack@infosec.exchange @xgranade@wandering.shop That might work, though I'd have to write a script that would parse the .gpx file, match the timestamps against the photo capture times, modify the files, etc. I seem to recall a few other missing features as well. But as I said, I do need to take another look at it.

@timbray@mastodon.cloud @jvagle@mastodon.lawprofs.org Why am I not surprised that Cogent is involved in this?

@intarchboard@mastodon.online @huitema@social.secret-wg.org True story. I was on the IAB when RFC 1984 was being discussed. I noticed where we were in the RFC series numbering, and dropped a note to Jon Postel asking if we could have 1984 for this document. His reply: “We never reserve RFC numbers—but coincidences can happen.”
