Sar

So, this is it. About to make the jump to the new instance: @sar@social.elderlogs.net

I would like to say a huge thank you to @stux@masto.ai for being an excellent host/admin over the past 3yrs I've been on Masto.ai.

You're doing a great job fella, keep it up!

As for everyone else, see you on the other side...

❤️

In all honesty I may just make the jump sooner than next week...

Once I have all the followed accounts sorted, I'll give it 24hrs then probably pull the ripcord 😂

All of my accounts that I've followed so far (still a pile to run through) seem to be populating the timeline great, so once everything is settled, this time tomorrow I'll more than likely make the move.

It seems (so far) to be going better than expected, bar the throttled followings on several large servers (.social etc).

Ok, so the new #Mastodon instance is nearly ready for its trial run. I'll likely try and run this account and it in parallel for a week or so, just to be sure everything's running ok, before making the jump over.

You may see a follow/follow request from the new account prior to the full move in the New Year, mainly to help federation and fill up my timeline on the new instance.

Still a lot of tweaking and setup to do behind the scenes, editing of the About page etc, but nearly there!

Ok, so that's all the manual checking of the following list done and dusted, so I'll let things sit now until tomorrow then I'll make the jump properly 😀

Having to go through the list of people I follow on this masto.ai account manually, and issue a manual follow where needed on the new elderlogs.net account.

Painstaking process, because some accounts are dead, some servers aren't federated yet, some accounts aren't found but another "like it" (it's the same account) IS found, and so on.

About halfway through my list so far, just another 141 to manually check again.

Just know that if I send a request it's because your posts brighten my day 🙂

So federation on the new account appears to be going well, but follows are missing/being slow.

Probably throttling somewhere, given I was following a few hundred accounts. So if the new account, @sar@social.elderlogs.net, isn't following you yet and I do on my masto .ai account, let me know!
