We are sharing our #MistakenLyrics for #TuneTuesday.
I was a kid in the 1980s, and this song was constantly on the radio.
Back then, I swore they were singing "We milked this city." I REFUSED to be corrected by my parents 😂
I blame the poor speakers and the dairy industry influence on my young mind because I don't hear it like that now.
(Also I discovered Jefferson Airplane later and it's hard to believe this is the same band 😬)

The art in my office often helps others make sense of their experiences.
A reminder that art matters and has the power to transform lives.
It's sad the number of independent #vegan restaurants closing for good these days.
It makes sense. I understand why. And it's a loss. These establishments were part of personal traditions, built community, and held space for lots of memories.
The creativity and innovation pumped out is pure artistic genius.
I honour their contributions to community activism, #veganism, full bellies, and satisfied taste buds.

When I look back at my journals from my teen years, most entries nauseatingly provide every detail, interaction, and thought I ever had about my current crush or boyfriend 🤢
While part of me wishes I could go back and rationalize with my hormone - raging teenage self, I also know I wouldn't have listened. I hated listening to adults giving advice more than most things 😂
My adult self recognizes that I just so badly wanted to be loved, validated, and accepted by someone outside of myself. I looked to crushes and boyfriends in hopes that they would give me the approval I craved that I couldn't find within myself.
I repeated this pattern in other less obvious ways. Doing extra and people pleasing in hopes I'd be finally deemed "good enough." I accepted less than I deserved because I assumed that was better than being alone. I had few boundaries because I feared I'd be rejected if I didn't go along with what others wanted.
Now that I'm in my 40's, I finally see my own value and worth. I recognize that this needs to come from within rather than seeking that approval from others. It's not actually anyone else's job. That job is actually FOR me.
Yes it's taken a few decades to figure this out. And I now I finally get it.

This also includes being a beginner at noticing and naming your emotions.
