I did my first “AI-assisted interview” and I’m a fan. Live coding is my kryptonite. Producing, explaining, disagreeing, and improving things is much more my speed for problems I’ve never seen before.
95% reduction in typos. My 10x engineering moment was refreshing the Claude webpage when it hung.
In the same day I received a formal rejection for a place I felt I interviewed well and a notification that I’m moving on to the next round for an interview I did objectively badly. Like what.
Another random hiring anecdote from this round: I was offered the choice of a more complex AI-assisted vs a simpler non-AI live coding challenge. I mentioned this to another potential employer and they mentioned they are going to offer the same in 2ish weeks.
Take home exercises? Not even once. Boo, but I get it.
Making clarified butter after a home cooked steak dinner while watching Nine Inch Noize on the couchella live stream is amazing
