RE: @Nola_Haynes@findout.media

This needs to be a Big Movement.

Any white player that considers themself an "ally" must also refuse to play in the confederacy. Let those schools become marginalized athletic (and academic) shitholes.

Another data point proving the age-old axiom, "If you want high school students to get deeply interested in something, try banning it."

"Students moved from learning a four-minute song to immersing themselves in the history of Stonewall. They learned more about Marsha P. Johnson and they spoke at the School Board meeting about her powerful legacy of fighting back for her community."

Opinion | The Wisconsin school board hell-bent on erasing history

Natalie Eilbert: The Watertown School Board’s censorship of a school concert is an embarrassment, but few area school boards are speaking up.

@VE2UWY@mastodon.radio @straphanger@urbanists.social I've worked in IT since the early '90s (now retired), and every place I worked had a room overstuffed with out-of-date computer hardware. This equipment can run for decades, but is cycled out every 3-5 years. So, yeah, there's gonna be a shitload of top-end servers on the market in about 5-10 years. Suppliers of new hardware will have to move on to whatever is next.

"...he’s spent more time in 2026 interacting with an anonymous account called “XFreeze” than with any other user. It’s unclear who is behind XFreeze..."

How do we know that "XFreeze" isn't just another account controlled by #ElonSchmuck himself? That'd be on-brand for him.

CBS news was my soundtrack thru the 80's and beyond. Before the Internet and time servers, the chime at the beginning of the hourly newscast was the most accurate way to set your watch. And their news stations (KNX in LA, KCBS in SF, many more high-powered stations) kept us informed.

Between nuking radio news and kicking Colbert off the air, CBS as we knew it is long gone.

"the construction faces unforeseen costs. The lot is mostly topped with riverbed soil..."

Don't they mean SAND? It's the first time I've experienced this construction euphemism. Of course, most of this city is built on sand... er, "riverbed soil".

(We're talking about La Crosse WI, on the banks of the Mississippi River.) #LaCrosse

@infobeautiful So many ways this chart is bullslop. I've studied Spanish, French, Czech and German (along with my native English). I found Czech much easier than French (simpler phonetic rules, for starters). So why is it lumped in with all those "hard" languages with strange alphabets?

@cmconseils@mastodon.social CW: Picky copy-editor note... To say "same time" isn't precise. A summer sunrise is 4-5 hours earlier than a winter sunrise, so they're obviously at different "times". That said, I struggle to come up with better words to express "same stage of sunrise process".

I'm glad to see the band #RareEarth getting a lot of mention in the news these days. I remember hearing this Detroit band described as "the only White band on Motown." They had a few hits in the 70s doing some stock Motown tunes.

I met some members of the band in a Motel 6 parking lot in 1990. I had just completed summer #Dead tour, and they were between shows on the county fair circuit.

Respectable guys, decent band, I'm glad they're getting attention. https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kmxgwuMMGrP9qIdbpCeQeNsntDK9dsTXw

@Pepijn@mastodon.online I grew up in dairy country, had friends who lived on farms, spent many afternoons hanging out with neighbor kid while he did his cow-related chores. I don't think either of us has ever sat on a cow. Never seemed like a good idea.
