@richpuchalsky@mastodon.social I agree but I think there are a couple of aspects to it:
- in general, whether or not you have your basic needs met should not be tied to whether or not you work
- the reason why a lot of people currently feel like they need a good paying manufacturing job is because we've made education private and expensive, so people don't have the option to switch into a service job if they didn't go to school
- manufacturing jobs should pay well anyway (see point 1)

@burgerdrome@aus.social a lot of software is written on top of layers of other software by people who do not really understand or care to understand what the CPU or memory is really doing, all to serve features users don't really need.
You would expect with technology getting better computers would get faster but it's not actually the case
