lol this is just a link to a web page hosted on mastodon’s server. hilarious.
i built this exact tool ages ago as a react component that didn’t require going to a different website in order to use.
But mine also had a follow button.
Software engineer. I’m way more active over on Bluesky these days.

atproto’s sync v1.1 made it extremely cheap to host a full-network relay. previously this was the most cost-prohibitive thing to run in the stack. now this guy is running one for under 5 bucks a month. pretty incredible. anyone who wants to run one of these could set it up.

RE: @FediTips@social.growyourown.services
The main server is the one least likely to shut down because the maintainer can’t afford to keep it running. Unlike on Bluesky it’s impossible to actually migrate to another server if yours suddenly vanishes, and even if the old server is still running you can never migrate your posts to a new one, so the safest option is to pick the safest server.
Or… join the atproto network instead with Bluesky, where these problems don’t exist.
@rmondello@hachyderm.io Alright... I've got a weird passkey/Passwords problem for you.
On localhost, I have 4 passkeys showing in the login popup. These are old passkeys I made for testing.
I have deleted them from Passwords. They no longer exist. But they still show as login options, and I can even select them to dump their IDs and other metadata on my local backend.
I even tried signing out of and back into iCloud (removed my local password data on logout).
What's going on here? Known issue? Fixable?
I don’t use this place much since Bluesky is way better at this point. Bluesky even replaced Ivory in my dock. Looking forward to the Phoenix bsky client from @tapbots@tapbots.social to get user experience I really want over there.
Bluesky’s protocol is actually designed to make moving your account and owning your data a reality, something Mastodon will sadly never be able to deliver on. Plus the community just feels way more active and alive.
Follow me over there instead.
If you’re looking to get away from centralized, for-profit social media, this is your worst option.
It’s centralizing control of your server & content with the single company that makes Mastodon and hosts the flagship instances. Every service listed on this page has a “contact sales” button.
It’s centralized, for-profit Mastodon. What a joke.
You’re better off publishing to your own atproto PDS on Bluesky using a $5 VPS, where you can move your data anywhere anytime.
@Mastodon@mastodon.social
continues to amaze me that this is the product every tech company is staking their future on
@lizardbill@hachyderm.io
There’s actually a very good case for it and I prefer this on my mobile devices. If you want the “toxic hellstew” of malware on Android be my guest, but keep that crap far away from my iPhone.
